After a previous thread I have contacted our supplier Alugas for a definitive answer on this .
As you can see that whilst they do offer recertification on old cylinders they still recommend replacement which is our stance with all refillable cylinders / tanks .
Cost of €180.00 only available in person at the factory in Germany .
If the manufacturers are still technically recommending replacement we couldn’t advise a customer to go down this route for obvious reasons.
Here’s there response :
Good Morning,

yes, we do offer recertification at our plant.
The price today is 180€ per cylinder and customers must arrange an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance because the inspection takes at least 4 hours.
We do always recommend replacement!
We can not offer this service with shipment to UK.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards from Bad Sobernheim

When they recertify the cylinders are they good for another 10 year, do they tell you that?

They offer a service whereby they recertify your cylinder but recommend replacement, seems a bit contradictory. Are the recertified cylinders not as safe as new ones then?

Basically if they recertify the cylinder at the factory that means they have checked it all over, replaced valves etc and it should be as safe as new.

If it’s not safe they shouldn’t offer the service at all.

Having gone down this route yes it's restamped for another 10 years, the cost has certainly increased but maybe that quote might be for the later type cylinders. 🤔

I very much doubt companies like Calor dump bottles after 10 years. 😁
We had a duel fuel car for years and out daughter had it after us, the tank was in the boot where the spare wheel would be and looked like new as does my certified alugas bottle. 😎 Bob.
