Does anyone know a way round Lyon avoiding going through it?
on the way South its easy on the motorway, but for some reason the twatnav always takes us through it and along the river, which is always congested and slow.
any alternative routes anyone?

Is it a free MW? If not, is it set to avoid tolls? Can you not programme it to avoid certain roads?

We also looked for an alternative route around Lyon recently but found that it would have been so long winded that we decided to bit the bullet and used the motorway system through the centre and along the River. In the end it was quite a pleasant and trouble free drive

Just like Paris ,Lyon has always been a problem. I have never found a better route.

I think it’s either a very long detour or bite the bullet and follow satnav or signs.
Our different type satnavs have taken us very different routes through Lyon in the past !

Like Paris you need to time it right driving through Lyon. We used to stop the night before close to Lyon and then leave about 6am in the morning to set off. No problems then.

Timing is everything. If your french is good enough their information service fo roads is very good. I always asked a young (and if possible pretty) person to look it up for me.

Yes my twatnav is programmed for motorways because as I'm still working I only have a couple of weeks at a time to travel. Roll on when I can afford to retire and can travel as long as I want. 🙄😎
