Hello folks, we've got a Bavaria i740 Allure (same as Pilote i740) which has 15" steel wheels. We (I) have been thinking of fitting a set of alloy wheels.
Does anyone have any experience of this, and did you find any pitfalls.

Also considering maybe going to 16" wheels and tyres. Any advice or Pitfalls etc.

Thanks in advance.

Tis quite expensive to upgrade to alloys.
The wheels need to be weight rated for your vehicle & a hidden cost is that you need new wheel nuts & the price of these nuts usually surprise's people in a very unpleasant way.
Spigot rings are another possible cost & after all of that, you must inform your insurance company, even when fitting alloy wheels bought from the original manufacturer.
Apart from that lot, its a straightforward swap.

As above is all correct if you still want to go ahead you will need to know the size of tyres you have at the moment and the weight rating.
Go to trye calculator site put your size at present and it will give you a rolling diameter.
I had a six series with metric tyres only Avon made then and eye watering pricey.
If for instance you 205/70/15 now most are a mix.
I.E.
The 205 is millimetres across the tread 70 is the percentage of that and 15 is in inches across the wheel top to bottom.
The wheel will have a J measurement this is in inches across the width of the rim.
Due to the alloy wheel being bigger the presage of the trye will be smaller.
If it's the same your speedo will under read but most do any way by 2/3 present.
Hope that helps

Many thanks for the replies. I think that I'll be sticking with the 15".

I replaced my steel wheels, fed up with derusting and painting, with alloys a couple years ago. Cost £440. Rated well over required weight per wheel. Couldn’t be happier

Same question for us.
Does the length of the van make it any more difficult? We’ve seen a used 7.5 MH with steel wheels but hubby would want to upgrade to (preferably) 16” alloys or 15 if that was the better option. Guess dealer would charge arm and leg but hubby is not at all practical so could it be done elsewhere and if so, would it affect the warranty (it has some of the manufacturers warranty left)?
