Picking up a new Burstner in Sept. It has 16" Alloy wheels for a Ducato chassis. It only comes with a slime & go repair kit.

Having had to use our spare wheel this week because of a sidewall defect (steel wheel) I am persuaded that carrying a spare wheel is a good idea despite the weight and stowage issues.

I assume ( always dangerous) that Fiat alloy wheels are the same PCD and tapers?

Anyone got one going spare - pun - that does not need to be pretty but safe and functional?

Thanks

David

Try local breakers. If there is an alloy wheel supplier near you he may have some steel wheels he's removed from a van.
There are plenty out there but they get snapped up very quickly.

Also be aware of PCD118 andPCD130.
The distance between adjacent bolt holes.
Heavier version (Maxi models) use the larger 130 (78mm bolt to bolt) smaller vans use 118 (71.8mm).

I have an old steel 16" PCD130 if needed and you can't get an alloy. Not pretty but functions. £30 Peterborough. Or going to South Western show.

Thanks for that. The new moho is a Burstner rated at 3850kg. Specs say "16" Alloy wheels for light chassis"

Thanks also for the offer. Are Alloy and steel wheel nuts interchangeable?

Regards

David

Why go to the expense of an alloy when a steel would do the job to get back on the road until repairs can be done? We have alloys and carry a steel spare never needed to use it over last five years (there I’ve done it now Bet I get a puncture??)

You May need a spare set of studs but that wouldn’t cost too much.
Someone will be along to tell us soon?
Just checked with Hymer and on ours the original Fiat studs can be used so hopefully you’ll be ok as Burstener is part of Hymer group???

We had a puncture on one of our 16" alloys (heavy chassis), the fitter managed to fit a temporary steel spare using the same bolts, but took care when tightening them to make sure there was no interference. I had considered buying a spare set of shorter studs from Fiat, but seems they are not needed on our set up.
Cheers
Ed
Edit: Our van is a Rapido A class.
