Does anyone please know if the small Aire (10 places) is still open in the centre of Arras?

There's a review on Campercontact from this month of the larger one by the river on the north side of the city but no mention of any other aire.

And should the new one be full we have seen them overnight here.

Thanks everyone for your response and I shall head to the new Aire which sounds excellent. We will be arriving there about the 9th September and staying for two nights so do I need to book in advance, if you can?
You won't be able to book. Just arrive early, say before lunch if you want to have the best chance.

Its an airepark, I cant say I have ever used one having only been to Arras before this one was built.

I presume airepark are similar to camping car park who I believe you can book with.

Not an area of my expertise as paying isnt in my vocabulary (but I am going to have to learn from tomorrow)

Now I have had a look it appears you can book if you follow the link https://www.aireparkreservation.com/aires-camping-car/recherche/31038

Its the new aire at Arras John.
Only been open a short period and very similar to the camping car park one.
Some very good reviews from this month.
Just a note that some non paid up members of the caravan club have been there but no problems caused

Be sure to stay for the huge Saturday market that fills both city centre squares.

No its just wasteland now, (did go and have a look) I stopped in the new aire a couple of weeks ago. Great position for visiting the town , Its pay by card only as someone said Airepark run ,hardstanding with well spaced out pitches, electric and wifi included in price €8.50 plus tax €2 for services all done by QR code on ticket. one toilet and shower again access by QR code on ticket. Board at entry tells you how many spaces , Not that busy ,we were there 3 nights over a weekend and a few empty places . One thing we noted was the do as you likeys had sussed out you could get vans in for free as your ticket let you in and out ,they could and did use the toilets and showers but couldn't get access to the services as the ticket could only be used once (although they could get a bit of water after someone else had finished filling up ).I did have a look at booking but this aire was not on the list of bookable aires , but as i said not as busy as i thought for August.

Been to the new aire (above photos) last month and it was fantastic.
Just be careful that when you book in on the entry machine that you select the right number of hours.
There’s one for day parking and one for overnight the only a Euro or two difference in cost.
I didn’t notice it as the sun was shining on the machine and I just presumed the cost I had paid was for the night. It was only when a few vans going out got stuck at the barrier did I realise and so I wen5 back to the machine and topped up.
You can prepay for water and electric upon entry as well.
Walking distance into the square.
I drove to Wellington Tunnels but with planning and time, I suppose you could walk there.

I've just had a look at Airepark and created an account on their website. It seems a curious organisation. The map shows lots of locations but if you look at a sample it is predominantly campsites and normal village aires, none of which they will own. In addition, there are these other aires, like the one in Arras, which they do own and control. I can't find a map of where these are but if you look on the section of their website where you can book these seems to access lists of them by Department.

Each 24 hour period you pay for includes 10 mins water so don't do what I did and buy water on its own unless you really need to. When we left this morning I still had about 3 water credits.

How did you find the pressure of the water. When we were there we couldn’t fill our tank from quater to full in the allowed time.

Was expecting the worst when putting water in there last week. But as I'd only paid for a couple of minutes, I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to get more than half a tank (120 odd litres) for that. Probably a fault which left the water on until you turn the tap off and then it resets.

Must be better than that old carpark/aire, which was a complete dump.

Stayed there last month.
Excellent Aire with huge pitches.
Get ready for the bar code printer , it spits out very fast , you might have to chase your ticket down the road.
On the water side (RH turn through the barrier) there is a barge moored a distance away. This is a music bar and does produce some noise at night but not too serious.
There is a free shuttle bus across the main road to take you into the main squares. We took this and then walked to the tunnels.

And don’t let your Q Code out of your sight. Ours went missing and we could not get out. They cannot cross reference with your registration number and just advise buying another ticket. Fortunately a very kind Canadian let us out on his code. Second visit. Great Aire. Great town. Saturday market is brilliant.

On the vital QR code piece of paper, the QR code is printed 4 times so we cut the paper in half and kept a piece each.

Wiser than I! One lives and learns.
But a great Aire and I thoroughly recommend the town. Easy run in to Eurotunnel.
