WANTED Air rifle.

I’ve got an old BSA I think somewhere in the garage, not seen the light of day for over 20 or 30 years I dont think ?

Got one here with sight on it and in a padded case. Can get photos if interested.

Not sure what make, but it’s a 2.2 and snap load barrel.

You may have an issue with postage.
Royal Mail and others will not transport firearms. Low pressure air guns/rifles (non FAC) come under this restriction as does FAC. Sorry to put blocks on this but the only way you can transport an air rifle is either face to face (no chance at the moment) or with a gun shop or specialised courier at cost.
I have a Colt Major for sale but considering the above..will keep it.
Your request is genuine but at this time improbable. Good luck.

As far as I know it’s only been used about half a dozen times. I put the sight on it, and have never got round to setting it up, as I use different rifle.

You might be better with a.177cal smaller pellet faster and straighter flight trajectory, though the .22 does hit harder, just a point that is argued depending on preference.

I've got an "Air Arms TX200" .22 fitted with a silencer but I'm not sure what it's worth these days?

Go for a .177 with the max 12 ft lbs pressure, smaller pellet but harder impact and decide on what pellet ( there are loads of shapes and sizes) You cannot legally buy an air rifle in Britain unless you collect from a registered firearms dealer. or you meet face to face with someone to buy you cannot post it, Correct me if I am wrong but I think licensing for air weapons has been introduced in Scotland wont be much later in the UK You are looking at a Weihrauch or what Jim has an air gun with a seperate air reservoir for killing rats, A cock the spring gun has too much distortion in aiming from recoil if you are serious, you are looking between £300 - £600 for anything half decent Rodenticide is far cheaper

I bought a smk sx19 177. two years ago and only shot half a dozen pellets, it’s been in a cupboard ever since.
The photo is not the actual gun, if anyone interested I can upload photos tomorrow.

It’s funny to read this as I have just come in from trying to shoot the pesky rabbits that are destroying my new young trees , not for sale ,an air arms S300 , .177 , I use a divers cylinder to pressurise it

I had a hw100 .22 caliber but sold it and bought the .177 hw100 instead, more accurate straighter projection and kills just as good as a .22 great for rats

I also have firearms rifles for longer distance stuff and larger quarry

Have a look on freeads site or guntrader for a decent 2nd hand pcp air rifle

To be honest I hadn't given it any thought, it was just this thread that reminded me. It cost quite a bit when I bought it as it's a serious bit of kit. I'm going to have to do some research before committing but I'll update over the next day or so.

You guarding your garage freezer then ? I've been sharpening up my Dad's kukri from Burma ...........

I have still got my Dad's 1936 .177 Haenel German air rifle. Still works but needs an overhaul.
He let me use it in the back garden when I was a youngster in the late '50's and early '60's.
I was pretty hopeless at assembling Airfix kits but had great target practice hanging up Me109's and the like and shooting bits off them!

Put a little diesel in the pellet it works wonders

Not adviseable as it cause "dieseling" in the barrel.

ie Assuming a sub 12FP rifle, Under pressure the diesel may ignite, as in a diesel engine. This can create further pressure causing the pellet to leave the barrel in excess of the legal rate.

Pellets can certainly be washed & lubricated with vaious oil products but the benefits are open to question.
