This air intake always has water lying in it. Once the bonnet is closed it looks like any rain would just find it's way in there through the vent above. Is this the heater intake or engine air intake? Any one have the same experience?

Not sure but the rubber seal looks iffy take it off and warm it to try to get it even all round. You could drill a small hole at the lowest point.

It's the heater/ventilation air intake.

There is an outlet/tube at the back that drains any water. Should also be a plastic mesh grill to prevent flies etc.

Agreed. It’s cabin air intake with a drain a few inches back from the front lip. Always has water in it. Not a great design.

Pretty sure the seal isn't the problem as rain water gets in from above. Not sure I'd want to drill a hole as it would mean the water running out into the engine area. Since posting I've had another look and the water does indeed drain away via a tube at the back of the box. Did the engineers way. Poured in some water and saw it coming out under the van. :giggle::giggle:

That’s the air intake for the internal heater and fan. There is a drain, including drain tube that directs the water out and down the bulkhead. The air is taken through the top of the assembly so would have to be completely full of water before it enters the cabin.
