Soon after collecting my 2019 reg Ducato-based Rapido I decided that the air con was fairly ineffective and a recharge was in order. I booked and paid for a R1234YF service as the key date for that fluid was quoted as 2014: the garage told me they took out 400g and refilled with 550g.
Yesterday I discovered a sticker saying R134A, 550g.
The internet tells me that it's important to use the correct gas as the ports are different.

SO: did the garage use R123A and pocket the excess?
DO I just take it on the chin or go back and ask for a refund?

COULD they have filled with R1234YF (not according to the internet, but do I trust that)?
IF the latter, could any damage be done to seals etc?

All advice welcome, as usual. TIA

I don't follow that at all 🤔
Does the sticker you found indicate they used a gas other than that recommended by the manual ?

'pocket the excess ' ???
How would they do that ?

Different connections but they could use adapters, although I doubt it. I'd guess wrong sticker used.

My guess is that they refilled with R134a, filling or mixing with R134yf would cause problems. adapters are for filling R134YF systems with R134a. They can charge what they want for the gas.

My 2019 Ducato based Hymer uses R134A which is much cheaper than the newer gas as I found when I had it serviced by an aircon specialist. My invoice clearly says they used R134A - what does your invoice say?

I was given an estimate on the assumption I had the newer gas but the invoice I paid was much less once they found R134A. I think there was about a £30 difference.

R134A = £60 approx
R1234YF = £90 approx.
Far dearer than that here in spain Used to be north of 300€

My mate used to pay around 450>500€ for 5kilo cylinders of R1234yf whereas a 12 kilo cylinder of R135A was available for 200€

In fact I have just stumbled across Lidl online selling R134A in 13,5kg cylinders with free delivery for 74,33€:giggle:
