aerial woes

having purchased a camper van with an existing tv aerial system ... im wondering if anyone knows if the existing (GERMAN) aerial is sufficient for use in Ireland or do i have to buy a different type ? im a greenhorn so please keep any replies simple thank you ...

Probably OK. Why not just try it ?

The most common aerial you see, the round Status 315 has a poor performance. Any good aerial will need turning to suit your pitch because they are directional which means they pull in a much better signal.

Good aerials don't have to be expensive, the common house type on a pole is excellent but not very convenient.
