Advice on getting LPG fill on A27.

Thanks everybody for your help.

We have enough gas for our stay at Port Solent but we want to fill up on our way back home. That way we will have full tanks for our next trip in early January, to go to Germany in early January to get our cab double glazing regassed to stop the misting.

In that case I think we will visit this new facility at Landcruise. If so we will turn off the A27 on the Chichester by pass on the Bognor Road roundabout, then left turn at the next roundabout and then right turn into Oving Road. After filling up we will turn right onto the Oving Road then right on the Nyton Road and left into Fontwell Avenue to rejoin the A27 at the Fontwell Roundabout. That will also enable us to avoid turning right at the dangerous Nyton Road junction crossing two lanes of the oncoming A27 traffic.

You have said that before and I had no trouble filling, currently reported as having LPG on the 18th.

Why not fill up when you are in Europe it's cheaper than the UK.

LPG from some parts of Europe may have a high butane content and be unsuitable for winter use. LPG in the UK will be propane.

Iam sure they will have more propane in the winter, how else will lpg powered vehicles get around? I always fill my tanks before leaving France in the summer and never had a problem heading to Spain in the winter as the Butane only stops gassing at 0 deg .

Why not fill up when you are in Europe it's cheaper than the UK.

Because I do not want be looking for LPG when I am driving in a country whose language I do not speak or read.

The last time I drove in Germany with my motorhome I managed to get a fine for speeding on the autobahn.

Sorry for the late feedback on getting LPG from Landcruise near Chichester. We went to Adams Moray for a MOT and service to be done on Monday. That changed when the MOT found 4 major defects! So one day became 3 days once the spares were delivered. And Mr Wallet was screaming all week. Luckily my brother lives on Hayling Island so we stayed with them for a couple of nights.

Landcruise was very good mainly because I phoned them for directions. Turned in the little industrial estate and drove up to a set of green gates at the end of the road. Walked into the workshop as instructed and the guy came out to deal with us. Drove round to their LPG tank and he connected the hose and filled us up. Gave us a note of how much we had and sent us to the office to pay the bill. They accept cash or card. Price was £1.20 per litre. Not cheap, but you will be guaranteed to be successfully dealt with weekdays and Saturday. Just check their hours of business on the MyLPG app before you set out.

Very professional and I was surprised about the number of motorhomes for hire in there, must have about 40 to 50. I would go there again, even though it is a bit out of our way.

Vehicles are a liquid take off not vapour.

Butane only stops gassing at 0 deg .

But pretty useless below
10° won't have the flow rate to run a Truma Combi.

Quite a few have been caught out filling in Spain then their heater won't work on cold Marroccan nights.

If I fill up in Spain or France I always try to use the cylinder that has most of the fill first I don't want butane in the bottles in winter.

This year & last year OK as I filled up in Portugal 100% propane.

We must be lucky, we nearly always fill in France and Spain and spent the last nine winters in Spain mainly inland a bit so it does drop cold, but never had any issues.
