I have a Fiat 2.8jtd(2003) engine and I feel that the battery which I have had 11 years, plus however old it was when i bought the MH, probably should be replaced.

I cannot see any Ah marking on it. I am guessing 65-70Ah should be sufficient.

Could some expert please confirm or correct me.

Thanks.

Geoff

Hi Geoff, it's normally a model 096 battery for the engine

not all batteries are the same and what will fit in a small car will not be suited to starting a diesel engine in a van. There is a standard classification for battery layouts, as in size and where the posts are for connecting. The 096 specification is standard to the majority of vans and 4x4s

My 2001 Fiat based 2.8idtd uses a HB019 battery plenty around at 95amps.

I put it on a Ducato 2.8jtd.....?

The amps are not too important it's Cold cranking amps you need (CCA) if I remember my 2.8 had 800 CCA but anything above will be good. In fact the new fiat stable vans have 900 CCA
