Hello

Ive recently installed those typical colour changing LED strip lights. Seems like the only way to run them is via the USB power cable supplied.
So I now need to buy an extra USB socket so that I can plug them in.
I see that many of these are available online are rated for different currents eg 1A, 2.1A 3.1A etc.

My question is if I get say the 3.1A one, does this mean it always puts out 3.1A and may be too much for the LED strip lights which are about 1.5A, or it means its capable of putting out 3.1A IF there is a larger draw eg. 5V socket at 3.1A = 3.1*5=15.3watts ?

Here's a pic of what Im planning to get. Any suggestions, dos and donts welcome

Great, thank you.
And because there is a constant live going to the usb socket, ie. there is no switch to turn the USB socket on and off, does this mean it will be making a small but constant drain on my battery?

Yes. If you have solar though it wouldn't be a problem.

You may find that the 3.1amp twin socket give 1amp and 2.1amp and not 2x 3.1 amp.

I have used the very same ones you will be using great little usb extension. Fit near flush and no need to drill big holes 🕳 to fit them keeping things tidy on my Hymer I just took feed of the little lights and everything is spot on 👌
