Although it is only the beginning of February we are thinking of spending much of December 2019 to March 2020 in Portugal. This would mean leaving home before the 2020 ACSI books are guaranteed to arrive.

Has anyone any experience of either ACSI or Vicarious mailing the books to a campsite or similar? I know that later in the year various sites sell them but is there a list available of such places pls? I could ask ACSI or V but I trust you lot to give me an answer based on real life.

Or of course I could ask a friend to buy on my behalf and send them to wherever I lay our hats.

p.s. please do not use this as an excuse to start another life after B thread.

Always available at many places in Spain in December and would think that Portugal would be similar.

If you require it in English I presume you would have to source it through Vicarious,I
have had it shipped here in Spain on numerous occasions without problem and it only took a few days.

We left infested Scotland late last year and have been staying at a site in Spain over the winter and had them posted to us here.
I am certain that which ever camp site you decide to stay on will not mind them being posted to you.
Use Vicarious Books, far more efficient.

I picked mine up in Spain at the campsite in Conil.

Bought the English version in Spain for the last 10 years, usually from Sanger near Cartagena.

We signed up with ACSI direct and have the app, so they automatically renew it each year and bill us. We don't carry the books around, just use the app. Also saves space and weight!

Sangers seem to be a good company and perhaps worth a visit to find other accessories for motorhomes.

>>> wishing my life away

Gets my vote. Whenever we've done a really long plan the anticipation just keeps going and going and then all of a sudden the holiday is all over.

In December I saw something on in Jerez in Feb, a quick "shall we ?" and all booked. No over thinking it.

I ordered mine through the Caravan and Motorhome Club last week and it came yesterday.

Based on real life, as requested!

I have a recurring subscription with ACSI direct.
When I first moved to Spain, they sent the books to my spanish address. The following year ( last year) when they didn’t arrive, I contacted them only to be told they will now only post to the ‘billing’ address, which in my case was a U.K. address.

So, they sent them there, and I had the card sent on ( binned the books)

This year, they didn’t turn up again, ( at U.K. billing address) and I queried it again, to be told they had been sent, and they sent me the address to which they had posted them, which was kind of correct.....but in a mixed up format ! ( town, street, county, number .....!) anyway, nothing, so I asked them to send them to me at another U.K. address ( my folks where I have been staying) and they posted them there straight away, and I got them within a couple of days!

Talk about muck things up, every year!

Anyway, will cancel the subscription, because every ACSI site I’ve been on seems to have them for sale, as do many camping shops, in both Spain and Portugal, so I have no worries about simply purchasing one anywhere, and as I use the app and bin the books it matters not which language they’re in as you only need the card ID number to purchase and download the app......which imho is much easier to use.

Thanks for all your input. It seems best that I abandon my fear of technology, enter the 20th century and arrange for my wife to buy the app for one of her ridiculously overpriced Apple Corps products.

Vicarious posted one to me c/o a campsite in France. Few years ago now (2012) and from memory it arrived in about 5 days.

Vicarious posted the latest one to me at a site in Sagres, Portugal, and the previous year to a site in Hinojos, Spain.

This year I purchased the ACSI app with the additional 9000 motorhome stopovers. It cost an additional €5.50 over and above the standard campsite one, making a grand total of just over €9.

You do need the app code as printed on the back of the ACSI discount card.

So far, I've checked the MH stopover locations in the Calais area and they seem pretty comprehensive. Probably makes the Camper Contact app redundant but I'll still use it for comparison purposes and checking the useful reviews section.

Am I sad? I like looking at the books, although i use apps too, like to flip back and forth in the book, can't get used to doing that on the app. CMC is cheaper than Vicarious. I get mine as a gift every Christmas.

I very rarely use the book. The app is very useful when travelling in the early or late season when the majority of campsites are closed. In the app you can use filters to indicate your dates of arrival and departure. The app then only shows you those campsites that are open.

Probably a stupid question but here goes.

If I only buy the ACSI app do I still get a membership card to flash at receptionists?
