Fancy a change of van and rather like the AClass Mobilvetta. We have had many AClass vans and our current van is one.
Just after some general opinions as to build quality and Marquis aftersales.
PM me if you want as I will probably have more questions.
Thanks
Wilf

Really nice vans. Which one, some have pitiful payloads.

Had a look around one (model?) in Tewkesbury and wasn't greatly impressed with fit and finish.
Locker doors, step, etc off-centre, etc.
Was only in it for 5-10 minutes right enough.

I had a Moby 15 years or so ago. It was quite a cold van, not winterised in any way. The floor was a bouncy 12MM or so Ply. The water pipes used to freeze up in winter even if you were camping in it with the heating ON. The 12V built in flip down step broke. The engine battery continually drained. I've seen a few with bad damp on ebay.
Give it a thorough check over before buying like any other van.

Had a good look that them before our current purchase. Initially they looks good value but I did worry about the quality of some of the fixtures and fittings used and how they would fair over time but it was the reputation of Marquis that put the nail in the coffin

Looking at rear lounge and fixed bed models but am tempted by the Pilote as an alternative.
We looked at the Mobilvetta but didn't like the low ceiling in the rear lounge (due to the drop down bed) nor the fact that the front drop down bed lost space (almost a foot) due to the encroachment of the upper bodywork.

We ended up with a Rapido 9094 (8094 is the current equivalent).

We love our k yacht 79. Yes we have had quality / warranty issues but they have all been dealt with fairly by Marquis. Agree the quality is not up there with the German brands etc but what you get for the money is still good value. We uprated from 3650 to 3850 and have had no problems regarding weight. It is our first ever motorhome and we don’t regret anything. Had it nearly 2 years now and feel we made the right choice for us

I looked at one it looked fabulous but when I looked in more detail the fittings were not of a great quality. Payload was poor. Someone said that the fuel tank was small also because of payload. Went for an Adria and the technician I spoke to at my dealer used to work for Marquis, he didn't rate Mobilvetta and stated that the windscreens were very suspect.

Get the 4.4 tonne chassis and payload is sorted. We love ours.

Wilf, we have visited the Durham Marquis Branch twice to look at their vans and on both occasions I/we found the sales staff to be a right arrogant bunch of wotsits.

We checked out the new Mobilvetta vans while we were there (quite extensively TBH) and once you see through the cheap shiney bling then you soon realise that these things are thrown together by folk who don't care.

The 6 vans on the forecourt that we inspected on the day all had many issues wrong with them so, that, accompanied with the incredibly poor payload figures, would be a big 'avoid at all costs' to me.

We're not blessed with a decent selection of MoHo brands here up in the NE of England and this doesn't help when you're trying to buy something close to home for warranty needs etc.

Good luck,

Andrew

I was a fan of the old ones - beautiful cabinetry and well thought out layouts. I find the newer ones a bit flimsy.

Many thanks Andrew. We certainly have very little chouce as you say. Robsons of wolsingham are ok but never keep a franchise for more than a year. We are now drawn to Rapido or Pilote but about 2 years old. This will be our 14th van in 38 years and the thought of changing is frightening.
We appear to be offered total crap now.
I'll sell mine private as it has loads of extras and ideal for an extended Tourer.
