Just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of these for Frankia, I came across some tonight for Dethleffs and Pilote and would be very interested to know if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Am I being too specific?

If anyone has seen or heard of anything for other makes I would be interested.

I did a search for these a short while ago but to no avail. The clearest comment I could find was along the lines of there are too many styles to manufacture a one-size-fits-all.
Another post suggested that reflective tape made other drivers aware and might give some protection against hedges etc. I think that’s what I will look into.

Those guards fit the Amida mirrors made by Arcol in Spain,if you ever need any bits contact these guys

Thanks rb62 are you telling me that they are Amida Mirrors made by Arcol that are fitted to Frankia motorhomes?
Or are you referring to the Mirrors in the link specifically?

Just the mirrors in the link (y)

I did consider making some guards from stainless then thought you'll just end up ripping the arm from the van body. Hence I never pursued the idea.

@Silver-Fox I have considered that as well, I have a lot of experience with large vehicles (trucks and buses) but I don’t know if the actual arm would be strengthened enough to carry the extra weight. With the cost of these Mirrors you would think that there must be a market for this type of thing as they are obviously very popular on coach built and pvc.

If you've got £200,000 to spare you could do away with the problem :D

I know someone who had their mirror and arm ripped off their Rapido A class.
Obviously a mirror protector wouldn't of helped there.

Not that difficult to retrofit, really. Probably not legal retrofitted though??

I think that the new Le Voyageur has cameras instead of mirrors

That's the one at Pullingers (y).......or maybe you shouldn't look :D

@rb62 I actually saw one like that at the NEC last October, there are Trucks starting to get Type Approval for the same thing.

Alex and lesley, I'm in the process of buying a Pilote (G600L) and the mirror-guards in your link look just the thing. Why could we not find them. (Dont answer that!)
Thanks for the idea.
Roll on the Moho shows.

Thanks.

Don’t like it much to be honest. The new Le Voyageurs are nothing more than a posher Pilote as far as I can see. Nothing like the inherent quality of the slightly earlier ones. I’ll stick with my 2014 one thanks. (y)

@brynric I am delighted that these might work for your new Pilote, trust me they were not an easy find!

Good luck with your new toy when you get it.

They will probably be the same as mine then - I’ll keep a look out for them. To be honest the existing mirrors are very robust, much more than standard van mirrors. On my previous Pilote G690 in avoiding a crazed up skip driver van with big stainless guards over his mirrors, I almost drove into the hedge. Near side mirror was smacked back on to the door. Stopped just up the road and expected the worst and found that the mirror simply folded back and clicked into position with no glass damage and a very faint dent on the hab door trim

Throws up all sorts of issues.
Countries you can have the dash cam screen on others you can't.
Wonder how they will get around any issues as people are bound to retro fit.

Good points......

@Silver-Fox I don’t think they have a forward facing option (yet) so should not be an issue legally, although they are very small and aerodynamic I would not want to have to replace one!
