Well, we're all but ready for the off to Portsmouth for the ferry to Santander next week.

Just back from giving the van a thorough internal clean, dust and polish. We had a short 'shakedown' run to Alkborough (near Hull) on Monday and spent the night making sure the heating, fridge and hot water worked as normal. Touch wood, all was well.

Now we are planning our route into Stella the sat nav and aim to stay at the Stratton Arms near Oxford on the way down. We stayed there last year and enjoyed the friendly welcome as well as pork chop and bubble and squeak supper. Washed down with a lovely pint. Just the usual pre-trip apprehension (anxiety is too strong a term) that evaporates as you drive onto the ferry. All we need now is a smooth Bay of Biscay! Some hope.

Well, what can I say? Have just received a discount code for the ferry from a Funster. I won't embarrass them by naming them (unless they don't mind) but what a generous gesture.

What a brilliant forum this is. I've received loads of help always given in the friendliest manner. I really hope I can reciprocate one day.

Thanks again.

Safe travels and enjoy your adventure! Post photos when you can as we will be freezing and knee deep in snow so will need sunny pics!!:)

Thanks Anthea M. Will post some pictures from my phone. The ones I take with my camera are too large for attaching. My better half always reminds me of this when she wants to post on FB. But the phone is usually ok.

Have a great time, the weather on the cost as is great , don't forget your sun cream

Just to let you know that the discount kindly made possible by the Funster's code was enough for our evening meal on the ferry. So better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick!
Thanks again for your generosity.

same boat as us elderly mother and a brother in law with a ruptured achilles tendon so stuck in uk for a while

@Bobandfay-fingers crossed that it remains smooth and/or the tablets work. All the best and enjoy your travels.

Brilliant. Maybe you'd not even needed the tablets! Still, they help with a good night's sleep.
Hopefully, it'll be the same next Friday for us. Safe onward journey.
Oh and it's got very cold here in Blighty!
