3.5mm stereo audio jack at tv?

Just got the Hymer B 584DL and found a stereo audio jack at the TV point. I've plugged it in to the TV headphone socket but it does not play through any speakers. Anyone know what this is and how to get it to play through front speakers.

You have probably got a Caratec digital signal processor hidden away somewhere it may need to be switched on or tuned in via radio if it’s a Zenec head unit?
ours was in behind the passenger side panel accessed through the bottom of the lift up lidded storage by the sliding window take out the bottom of that and you will find the DSP? It’s a bugger to do anything on it I took the whole panel off in the end.
finally ended up binning the DSP as could not get any sound through it at all.

Yes it is Zenec head unit. Will look where you say.

Folkranger just added a couple of pictures to post for you I had nothing but trouble trying to get tv sound via this in the end bypassed it and binned it.

As you will probably have seen Zenec head set not much support from them, I even sent the Caratec unit back to Germany for tests and they sent it back saying it was working? I never did get it to work

I find Zenec support very good. Raise a support log and they come back within a working day. May not be the answer you want, but it's accurate. Just make sure you have the right Zenec model number and software level and explain the problem in really simple English. They will translate to and from German.

Meanwhile I've just taken similar photos and it looks identical to yours. Not too techy so don't know what it does. No TV sound though, unless I'm missing something. Caratec PP85 8 channel Hymer.

Basically It deals with the blue tooth element of the radio but all sound goes through it mine had a cable straight from a 3.5 Jack on the back of the telly directly into a 3.5 Jack on the DSP there are several plug in points on it for all sorts don’t really know why it’s even fitted as Zenec unit already has blue tooth

I think he will probably find it’s not the Zenec Head unit but the Caratec DSP causing the problem their support was good however in my case the DSP didn’t work even after being checked over by them I’m not sure that they checked the connections for speakers

They couldn't have sited it in a worse place. Can't get a hand near it. Dangling the phone down only allows partial pictures but there is a cable feeing into a port marked tv1 (or is it feeding out). Haven't a clue what this unit does.

That’s your feed from the 3.5 Jack on your tv to get sound from speakers, you will find it’s easier to take the whole side panel off then you can see all of it there is a short stub antenna as well, I unplugged the speakers found that the plug has a set of cables in and a set out I then cut and spliced each cable (in to corresponding out) and got speakers working however you will have to leave the unit connected if you require the bluetooth facility as the head unit relays on that. I just disconnected it and took it out Head unit works ok without it.
I did write and ask Caratec if they would take it an repair it? No reply been waiting months

Can't see how to get the whole side panel off. Where are the screws/fixings? Does the DSP not improve the sound quality? does it add effects? or are these handled by the head unit? I have speakers in the panels either side under the dash and by the sound of it there are speakers inside the pull down be but not visible so I assume the whole kit and kaboodle is a Hymer media package.

there are speakers in the drop down, there will also be a Schaudt RAD-1 radio adaptor somewhere behind the head set which controls quite a lot of things inc cameras I’ve put a few pictures here the camera controls are behind driver side door panel under the switch bank

Thanks for the help. As the sound quality is good enough for me the only thing I'm missing is the TV sound through to speakers. Being a new van to us I've got a long list of jobs to get it just right so I'll come back to this one later.
