The radio in our 2004 Ducato has decided to turn itself on at random times (no set time pattern)
I'm not sure how long it stays on for (I turn it off again when I notice it)
Any tips on how to stop this unwanted audio behaviour ?

I think you're right about changing the radio unit.
I've searched the net, and it seems to be a common problem across Fiat vehicles.
I haven't had much time to play with the settings, and I don't think it's anything I've done that has caused it to turn rogue.

PM incoming

How can you be sure the new unit will be ok?

The previous owner of my mh removed the radio unit that he had had fitted by a friend, as it drained the battery, even when not in use.
He figured that his friend hadn't fitted it properly, and gave me the unit, to get professionally fitted. Reading the above post I'm wondering if there's any point. :S

After scouring the net, I happened upon some posts on a Fiat forum.
It seems that the head unit is sensitive to vibrations, which makes it 'wake up' (I know, it sounds weird).
The solution it seems, is to keep a CD installed.
I loaded a CD in to the unit over a week ago, and have been busy popping out to the van doing bits and pieces a fair bit since, and I haven't seen it on since (whereas before it was almost every time I went in to the van)
Anyone else with this same issue might find this useful?

Good idea, Lenny.
I'll see how the CD solution holds up before making any modifications.
