We had our first cross Channel sailing for a few years this morning and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Better than the tunnel IMO which we have done many times because of dog.
Ferry booked for 12.30pm. Arrived early and were put on the 11.15am.
Dog checked in at booth, not pet centre as is on tunnel.
Placed in a designated pet lane and was first on the top deck.
Simple access to pet lounge, individual booths, free tea, coffee, water etc.
Doggy loo on outside deck.
Pleasant if a little windy crossing.
Will use again.
P & O 🤫
£230 less than tunnel and on time.
Highly recommended.

Was that Dover to Calais ?

Sounds nice and easy for the dog, which is quite a big thing in our house.

It was great. You pay £6 pp each way for access to pet lounge. Guaranteed a seat and no hassle. Only down side maybe was returning to car decks but there is a dedicated lift that with einesight we should have taken.
Tunnel is £24 each way for dog and you have to faf with dog check in etc.

Is that £6pp and £6 per dog?

tribalbrit thats great news, thanks, as we are booked onto a ferry in August with our two dogs in the pet lounge having used the tunnel many times but the price made us look at the boat this time and tbh fancied a change...

In theory you can pay for one person's access to the pet lounge while another person travels seperatley.
When first boarding you have to present your pass to the steward on entering the pet lounge. Some people sitting singularly with their dog were later joined my partners and children when access was more lapse , they then took advantage of the free beverages.
Some people are just tight I guess🙄

The FLTs are everywhere.
I find that type of person very irritating, It's akin to stealing. If you don't pay bloody well go without.

I had not travelled on the Dover routes for almost 20 years, 12 for the tunnel.

Last month we took the Irish Ferries out and tunnel back.

Really didn’t like the Dover ferry.

Tunnel back was much more convenient
