Anybody tried one of the “EcoDrive” things, which keep popping on my as an advert on my computer . It seems, so they say to be able to increase your MPG!!!

Just googled it - it's driving style advice rather than a product. Short version is do not wear a divers boot on your right foot.

I drove a truck with an automatic (roboticised) gearbox which had an eco mode, basically it changed up a gear as soon as it possibly could without the engine stalling, not good pulling away at roundabouts as the gearbox was so slow changing gear that you'd pull out and then a vehicle would come around and have to brake because the gearbox would be thinking shall i, shan't i, let me just think about that for a minute. I stopped using that mode after a few near misses.
