Bailey Autograph792F

Since June 2021
So, currently a Bailey Autograph 792F (4 berth but 2 belt and fixed bed) but looking / considering either a twin version or an island bed version new. There's compromises but as we both get older (my back and her mobility) the "garage" under the bed accessible from outside has shown more limitations on our most recent trip than previously.
Garage on the twin and island much better but more compromise in the bathroom area and bedroom area, so swings and roundabouts.

However, anyone got any suggestions for other makes / models with the following
£80,000, 3 or 4 belted seats (not the silly folding ones under a bench), island or twin bed, reasonable garage, decent size fridge freezer eg dometic 10 series, decent oven and hobs. We mainly off grid if that makes a difference, max length 8m.

We are glad we bought a new Hymer 780 with a garage big enough for two mobility scooters.

Yes the fixed twin beds are a bit high as a result. But, our view is that if we can get into the motorhome, then we can get into the beds.

Have a look at these two for sale at Adventure leisure vehicles in Tebay, I use this company for my damp check and warranty work and they’ve been excellent even though I didn’t buy from them.

I’ve just noticed Preston caravans are doing the exact same van as above for £10k less, very good van for the price.

Similar to the Weinberg above are the Knaus 640/650 Van Ti Plus which are on the VW/MAN chassis.

You could get a European A class a few years old for that budget. Already had the biggest depreciation hit, plus any snags should of been sorted.

Personally I would go down this route. I say this having bought a brand new Burstner 4 years ago and very soon wished I'd picked up slightly 2nd hand. Someone else takes the initial depreciation hit and will have sorted any issues out. Lots of very low mileage vans out there from people who buy and then don't use them much.

Ive been looking at A classes, but the biggest problem is that the bed is a drop down over the cab necessitating a ladder. That's an impossibility for the wife.

Both have ladders to the bed, steps she can just about deal with, ladders? Not a chance.

I may be going to look at that in a week or two. But first I’m going to look at a Sunlight V66 at Lancaster motorhomes, looks good value for money and sunlight are made under the Hymer brand.

We have the Knaus version of the same van, the beds are very easily accessible and as PaulyP says ladders are only used if using the centre infill, had the van 5 years and never used them.

Certainly, not all A classes are like that.

Not for the 'vans with a twin longitudinal beds (or sometimes double) over the garage.

Yes, our A class Hymer has a drop down bed over the cab. But in two years of ownership, no one has ever slept in it.
Only my 5 year old grandaughter has ever been up there.
