We decided to bite the bullet and go for a £60k Carthago Chic E line motorhome from Go European. We had arranged with them a date and time to get over to them and have a proper look at the motorhome of my dreams and just go for it to be honest. Had a few bad times with health but thought sod it!
DO it now before I cannot do anything and Jesus has taken me for a cherub!
The motor home was to me my dream of a vehicle and my last go at owning something that has been a very long time in coming about and has seemed to be so far out of my way financially , I thought it would never happen? My day had actually come!
Arranged with the company to go over and spend a little time looking around it and trying the buttons and stuff to make sure that all would be ok and we could then part with a lot of money for it.

Utterly and Totally let down!

Got there having emailed first to confirm our time for arrival, 'Message us' left on their own web site stating the time we would get there and to make sure it was available to view as planned, finally...Carolyn phoned up on the day 21st November 2024 to just make sure all was still ok and ready for our 90 mile round journey to them . She even asked jokingly for the coffee to be on! All was set up and ready....or so we thought? Guess what? Still in a corner behind other motorhomes and just not accessible! Not on EHU as was discussed so nothing working !
No Gas connected up...not working ! No Heating or cooker to test or run up! Handed a set of keys and that was it.
No one to properly walk us around and talk to us about it! One guy was busy taking photos of another truck tried to assist but could not help much!
I know it was only £60k but to us...its a huge financial outlay!
We just felt that we were totally overlooked!
My dream of owning what I have always wanted ...broken by the lack of courtesy from these people with an attitude of what seemed to be "Could n't be bothered'!
Although I was 'hit' by their poor attitude , I wanted to push through and still buy my dream motorhome!
The Access to what we could get at was awkward to say the least but still...you could get a rough idea of what worked or could work . However...the gas locker was fitted with a gas refill kit that looked like it was like something from the dark ages and had more 'Carpet spiders webbing' than your average horror movie...together with those under the engine bonnet , did any one look before hand? .....Oh and the broken side hatch gas struts ? Its a big door for goodness sake! At least make it safe!
After this I had given up hope entirely! Surely would it not be best to rectify these before you try to sell something ?
Just totally disillusioned and let down . A dream of owning something special...gone!

We bought our first motor home (Carthago) from Go European unseen. Initial impression of the Sales site when we went to collect it was OK - lots of new and second hand motor homes squeezed into a small site, but with loads of parking available in the adjacent garden centre car park.

Handover was thorough and all our questions were answered. There was a small dent in the rear valence they offered to repair or compensate for - no question or argument. I was quite pleasantly surprised by that.

I needed some warranty work done (Pioneer Satnav stopped working). This was arranged with Lewis the Service Manager efficiently and with good planning.

I had the first annual habitation service done in 2019, an inverter fitted and various minor things done. I live in Somerset so it's a long trip up to their workshop. I have always had the use of a vehicle and if any work has taken more than a day, Lewis has ferried me to and from the railway station.

Whenever I've wanted technical questions answered, they have either responded quickly with full and competent answers or asked the factory for a response.

The sales and service centres are being brought together in 2020 at a purpose built new site, so any issues with parking at the old service centre should be resolved.

Although there is a Carthago dealer quite close to me (who couldn't do a good enough deal when I bought my motor home) I will keep going back to Go European, a 240 mile round trip, because I have always had good quality and value service from them.
