We shopped around for insurance on the MoHo when we imported it into the UK. We had been living in Germany where we were covered by a German company, but as we were repatriating and the policy was due for renewal, it seemed simpler to buy a UK policy.
CAMC were the best for price of several I checked and a very good price if I fitted a tracker. So, we bought their policy, fitted a tracker and we were covered as soon as we had imported the van from Germany.
As the vehicle was an import and at that time without DVLA registration, they agreed to insure it on chassis number for 14 days, with the proviso we didn’t use it on the road. When it became apparent that we were going to overshoot the 14 day limit, I rang the CAMC call centre explaining we were going to run over by about ten days and would they provide just a simple theft and fire cover pending the DVLA producing the registration number (we were not driving it on the road at this time). The call handler said he would contact the underwriters but their response was to cancel the policy by writing to me saying the 14 days were up. They refunded my payment less time covered.
But then, a week after that, a representative rang me asking if I would like to insure through them after all, they had perhaps been a little hasty and the person I had spoken to on the phone had followed the protocols too strictly by not speaking to the underwriters; he had looked at the flow chart and decided that there was no point calling them, our criteria for extension did not fit! She said he should have spoken to them and they would have covered us…
Obviously by this time, we had cover with another company, NFU, who were quite happy to take the van on, on a chassis number pending registration. What was really frustrating was the lack of flexibility demonstrated by the CAMC chap I spoke to, when looking at the follow up call, the company clearly wanted our business.
As a note of interest, German insurance companies insure vehicles on chassis numbers and not registration numbers, as there the registration number belongs to the person and will move with them onto their new vehicle!

Didn’t get renewal notification until after insurance had expired.
Had to get replacement glass and this took numerous phone calls being handed off constantly. There was no overall control of the incident. Just given a number and left to fend for myself.

Just had my renewal through. There was an increase of around £25 this year. The risk is exactly the same as last year, the only difference is that insurance premium tax has gone up by 2%. Not happy, I phoned for an explanation and was told that this was the best price the insurer would offer (same company as last year). I protested that This was hardly acceptable given no change in circumstances and only a small rise in tax and the Club agreed waive the £10 renewal fee thus making my total cost £215. So happy with that i will renew with them. My windscreen claim did not make any difference and everyone i spoke to was polite and helpful as far as they could be.

I insured with C&MC last March as the quote they gave me was unbeatable at £198 comprehensive. The process of getting the quote was easy enough.

I am now waiting with baited breath for this years quote for renewal. I expect a small increase because of budget changes on insurance taxes BUT I had windscreen claim for my A class which I am told cost £1500 or thereabouts. The claim was handled well although I had the screen replaced by National Windscreens and I had read some pretty poor reviews of them.

I have a protected NCD but I wonder if the windscreen claim will make a change in premium inevitable. Watch this space..................

This is our first year with them, having switched from the other club which increased the premium unjustifiably at our 7th renewal anniversary. This insurer has always been too expensive in comparison.... until now. The premium this year was very competitive for the level of cover.

Would mirror Cornish Boys comments on service quality. Very good to deal with on telephone.

Broad range of cover, eg
  • Full policy cover for all journeys to EU and Associated Countries - Up to a maximum of 365 days in any policy year.
  • New policies up to 80 years of age - Available for Club members.
  • Cover usually offered for RV type American-style vehicles Left-hand drive models covered. - No size, weight or seating size limits. An engine restriction of 8 litres applies. Also, high value acceptance limits covered (subject to any policy terms that may be required).
  • etc
Very competitive premiums for us. All comparison quotes sourced over last few years were, at best, marginally better but, generally, more expensive on like for like terms (where available).
Half-point knocked off for the restriction that you have to be a club member to obtain insurance however quotes available prior to joining. Currently adds c£50 to the overall cost.
Currently offering a "price beating" guarantee of a minimum of £25 discount on your renewal quotation.

Would definitely recommend (at least get a quote to see how they compare).

I rang them when we were buying our motorhome in Sept 2016, after the standard question set they explained they couldnt offer me any 'No Claims Bonus' as we had not owned a motorhome before and our current NCB's were allocated to other vehicles, however taking everything into account they would be able to offer me a discount which would reflect 7 years NCB.

Couldn't complain, the person on the phone was really helpful and as they were significantly cheaper than the other quotes I had, they got the business.

And so on to this year, I awaited the renewal quote with interest and to be honest I expected to have to ring and explain everything again and ask for some discount but to my delight the discount was already in place and the overall cost had reduced from last years premium.

Based on my experience I have no hesitation in recommending them to others buying their first motorhome and who have healthy NCB on their existing vehicles.

Update: Just renewed again for 2018/19 as the quote came in again cheaper than last year. Very easy to deal with and very professional.

Update: Just gone through the renewal process for 2019/20 and yet again everything was as hoped for, no hassle to renew, cheaper than the previous year and no change to extent of cover.
