Took advise from previous blogs regarding French SIM cards, and bought a Reglo one from a Leclerc supermarket, it has been fantastic , so firstly thanks many for the advise .. We will use this option from now on …

Could anyone advise where the nearest large Leclerc supermarket is in Calais ??

And does anyone know whether my wife and I using separate passports could buy two Reglo sims to see us through our trip ??

How much does a Reglo SIM cost and how much data does it give you as we are walking distance from a Leclerc and it looks like a good option
Thanks

I didn’t use passport, just used driving license and used an Aire address

Ours was €14.80 for 250GB. But they do other sizes as well

It seems better value than the FREE SIM options as you also had to pay €10 for the SIM! Unless things have changed of course ...?

I got a SIM from a phone shop 200gb for 20€ it renews for 9.99€ Licra mobile. No ID needed, it has to be registered to renew, but is fine without for 30 days

The Reglo sims are usually sold in an electronics shop in the entrance mall to the larger LeClerc supermarket. We bought ours at Samaur. Had to show a passport but didn’t need to give an address.

€5 of that is for the sim, the data is €9•80, it’s restricted to 200gb unless you set up an direct debit, although you can recharge in store I don’t know if that gives 200 or 250.

I asked ChatGTP to find me the nearest E. Leclerc store with a phone section to our first stop over in France this summer just south of Luxembourg and it found one 11km away. Whether it is right or not I guess ill find out when we get there. Worth a try. https://chatgpt.com/

Just popped into Leclerc to get a Reglo sim card. Fabulous value £12.50 per month for 350Gig. However, you have to have for minimum 4 months.😒

Thanks. Is that just the 350gb or all their sims? I Was going to get the 250gb one but we will be there for three months anyway so its not a problem really. The main thing I am wondering is how to renew it each month. I would prefer it to be automatic and then just close the account at the end of the trip.

When you sign up you give them credit card details. Don't know you cancel after use. When I bought Free sim a few yearrs ago the cancelation was a right riggmarole.

We use Reglo every time we are in France. €19 this year for the sim and 350Gb thereafter only €14.80. Install their app and register the sim but do not set up with a direct debit you can just recharge your account with the €14.80 before 28 days are up.
If you set up with a direct debit they will give you an extra 50Gb but it easy to terminate the line through the app.

Hi, I used Reglo many years ago and have just bought one.

I have a spare phone and an old 5573s router and I was planning to play about with it.

Do you have to follow any specific procedure. I understand that I have to activate the SIM by putting it in the phone to get a french phone number.

I presume I can then just put it in the Router?

Take the spare phone to the shop and get them to activate it, then transfer it to the mifi - that’s what we did. Don’t forget to take your passport to the shop - they wouldn’t sell us the sim without. They never asked for an address - we were going to give them a campsite address.

It's around 19 Euros - 4 or 5 Euros for the sim and then I think it was 15 Euros for 350 GB of data. NO contract - top up end of the month if required.

We saw the same advice and bought one on this trip to France. We used an old mobile phone and stuck the sim in there and then used it as a hotspot wifi. Worked like a charm for streaming off our laptops. We both have lebara contracts that allow data use in EU for free so didn't need the data for being out and about. But if you wanted to use the sims in your mobiles that wouldn't be a problem. We just gave our passports and they weren't fussed about an address - I think we may have even given our home address. Anyway, it's a brilliant deal! We've kept the sim and the registration details so we can just activate it again when we go back if they still have that deal going.
One thing I'd like to know though - does anyone know if the data can be used EU-wide, or is it restricted to France? We're going to Spain in the autumn so it would be handy if we could use it there.

It allows I think it is 35Gb of the data to be used in Spain without daily fees.
ie, it's cheaper than a UK sim for that too.

In Spain there are similar contract free options similarly priced (Digi I think is the cheapests), ditto in Portugal, ie, switch to a one month Spanish sim from Digi and you will find it's similarly cheap.

Just had a look at the ReglomobileE website. I'm not too wise when it comes to mobile tech so could do with some explaining. Is "Go", French for Gb (Gigabytes)? Why does is gives a much lower Go Data figure under the eye catching title? Which network does it use? I've used IQ Go last year but their new roaming allowance is not ideal.
