Can anyone recommend a decent cycle cover for external bike rack on motorhome? Just bought two new electric (expensive) bikes. Thanks

Thule. Not cheap but great quality. We've used a Thule cover for our (expensive) e-bikes stored on the tow bar rack successfully for extended tours all over Europe.

We had a Fiamma one many years ago, it blew away, that’s because tissue paper is made stronger, what a complete waste of money.

We’ve used the Hindermann Zwoo Universal cycle cover for a few years now and it’s stood up well to the elements. Hindermann also have a specific e-bike cover which costs a more and is presumably a bit larger as well, but the Universal fits our Cube Kathmandu Hybrid e-bikes well. Apparently the additional retaining strap kit from Hindermann is pants, so I use two 72” bungee cords with the clip type ends for extra security.

We have a cheap £10-20 from Halfords and it works fine, it's too big but I've always bungied them down well.

We use two Velosock covers. They’re expensive but look good and don’t flap around.

I first used one of these…

Which was good and thick and probably protected the bikes better than the velosocks but we had the opportunity to get a good discount on velosocks so changed over to them.

If you’ve a bike platform rather than a rack, and fancy the Hindermann cover, send me a message as I’d be up for selling it.

Don't bother with cycle covers. Cycles are made to withstand rain etc.

Taylor made here too. Also keeps bikes out of sight if they are decent ones.

We had the same experience as CazPaul with a flimsy but quite expensive Fiamma cover. We are now using a grey 2m x 3m tarp from Amazon (about £12 I think) with cords through the eyelet holes which laces up quite snugly and ia very durable.

I used a XL BBQ cover. Fits great and tough

Been on our two e-bikes for nearly a decade on the back of the mh and still going strong and waterproof. It has faded that’s all!

For us, there's an element of keeping prying eyes off our bikes.
In my experience they’ll just slash it with a Stanley blade to have a look at what it’s hiding.

Solution
I carry a cover. But it's only to cover the bike when it's parked up for security. I'm not worried about rain. On this week's ride, my bike was so clogged with mud, I dunked it in the canal up to the axles, and then carried on. It reduced the chain grinding... until I reached the next slop section.

Another vote for taylor made, they really are very well made and very tough, I bought ours for exactly your reason, and have had ours for years with no problems yet.

Report on local Facebook of an attempted theft of bikes on motorhome in our local Sainsburys car park. Two rode up on over power ebikes with balaclavas with battery power grinders in broad daylight.Tried to attack onlookers photographing the proceedings

Much depends on your bike rack: if it’s a tow-bar-mounted one, a normal “box-shaped” cover will fit down over the bikes and the upright of the rack. (I used an Oxford 3-bike cover, for 2 largish e-bikes.)

A rack mounted on the back of the motorhome makes things much more difficult. The vertical bars of the rack itself get in the way. Fiamma sell one with flaps designed to fit round the bars, but it’s unbelievably complex and (as others have said) very thin and fragile.
