So i had the dreaded airbag light check come on last week which after troubleshooting it, this looked to be down to over voltage as error was 13.9v, I ordered a new much newer Airbag ECU which was manufactured in 2023. Seller had my vehicle down as compatible via the plate on the engine, although the same one looks to be compatible with pretty much all 2017 ducato's as well a load more newer and older, so I think these things must be compatible with a lot of them.

I already had the gendan leads and registered Multiscanecu software, first time connecting i could see the error on the airbag module, and it was the B0100-49, i replaced the ecu and connected again to the body and did the proxialign which all went through OK. Connected back again to the body after leaving it for few mins and all shows ok with no errors recorded, and the airbag light has gone.

My issue now is that if i connect the Multiscanecu back to the airbag module again within the software using the same settings as before i am presented with Invalid Iso Code, the Module cannot be identified.

Phoned Gendan, and they said the software is now not recognising the new ECU module as it's newer than the one that was in there, they mentioned about emailing the software company with some logs to see if they can add support for the newer ECU module for the vehicle but i would of thought this would be there anyway seeing as its a 2023 Airbag module. Should i be concerned as the vehicle is working with no errors now when turning it on. I will take it for a drive tomorrow just to make sure its ok to drive, but i cant see that being an issue as it was ok to drive even with the error present.

Anyone seen this? if the ECU model was incorrect, surely it would not proxialign, this went through without a problem and as i said the software is reporting no errors when connecting to the "body" within the software.

Couple of pictures below of the iso error and the one now showing no error codes stored.

Is the newer ECU definitely compatible with your setup? My opinion is that the module you have bought isn't compatible with your ecu. I am not an expert though!

For my 2014 fiat there were three or four different modules I could have bought, I replaced like for like and the proxi alignment process worked well.

Good luck!

It was on there list as being compatible and it did proxialign OK with no errors and the warning airbag light has gone out. If it was not correct I would of thought it would not work at all but I am no expert so have no clue.

Mine is exactly the same I think it's because your version of Multiecuscan doesn't have the iso for that airbag module. My ecu was a 2023 build, installed in a 2015 Ducato two years ago and its been OK. The only issue will be you won't be able to see and obviously clear any future faults.

Had this back from the place where I purchased it from

The proxialign completed fine, so the ECU itself is working correctly. The Invalid ISO Code only appears because your airbag ECU software version isn’t yet in the Multiecuscan database. The module is fine, but if you’d rather not keep it you can return it for a full refund.

Which does make sense, I have emailed multiscanecu to see what they say as if they say it's just an issue with there software then it should be ok.

Just wondered if anybody else has replaced theres with a newer one and then tried reading the airbag module again to see if they get the same or similar error.

Thanks for confirming, had me worried for a moment. Maybe multiscanecu can add it as not being able to read codes later might be an issue when trying to troubleshoot.

I don't know what software version of Multiecuscan you are using? Just checked the website and there is a new 5.4 version out. Mine licence has run out but as my van is 2019 I'll not bother but that might be the issue or a red herring . I'm sure a resident expert will be along shortly 🤞

I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding your process, but I removed my airbag ecu, proxi aligned and the light went off.

Passed the mot (advisory as bulb not shown to be working).

Fitted new ecu, proxi and all working OK.

Does your airbag light illuminate on key on and extinguish after a few seconds?

You can only update the software for the first 12 months so if they don't update the iso in the first year you would have to pay for a new 12 month license and it still might not be supported.

I never knew the updates only happened for 12 months! I will wait until I needed to update before I pay for another 12!!

I am using v5.4 as I only registered it a week ago. There are no errors when turning the ignition on anymore and the airbag light goes out as normal. My only issue is when I try and now read the same airbag module from within the multiscanecu software which used to work but now comes back with the error mentioned earlier.
Will wait to see what multiscan say as I have emailed them.
From the vehicle side everything is working as it should now.

I wouldn’t bother doing anything else. No warning light, and you are able to pass MOT. That’s all you need. Hopefully it’s not fully installed and can’t then fail again.

Ever since Adams Moray fitted my new airbag ECU earlier this year I get a single ping from the standard fitted Fiat radio on the first windscreen wiper sweep 2018 Fiat Ducati 150 manual.
No other issues.

Had a reply from the people that make the software i.e. multiscanecu and they have confirmed the vehicle is ok and the issue is with their software, copy of the reply below.

Better to get it from the horses mouth (y)

So for £150 which is what the ECU cost the issue is now resolved which is a lot better than the £800+ that Adam's Morey wanted.

Just had another email from the software owners of multiscanecu and they have confirmed support has been added to the next version of the software for the airbag ecu that I sent them details of. Pretty good service.
