The Simpson's Irish Raid.

Lots of people wax lyrical about Remkoska's which are radiant ovens or Ninja's which are fan assisted radiant(convection?).
They are both very versatile, we have 2 Ninja's in regular use; our big domestic fan oven isn't used much these days.

Also height restriction barriers at beauty spots, not toilet waste facilities-now let me think why would that be, maybe we are all too concerned about what the ramifications might be were we to mention it!
I'd be keen to know the potential ramifications you suggest, if not actually mentioning whatever might lead to them. I'm sure we could work back from there ;)
New thread though so as not to ruin Barries travelogue. (y)

I suspect pandas may be referring to the permanent travellers and the issues that some of them can raise through illegal use of car parks etc. If that is what panda means there is no issue as far as I can see with raising that?

There's also a pool table here for anyone inclined.

But I have only just had my drive done!

Today we are in Le Carrow harbour in county Roscommon. A harbour on the side of Lough Ree, where people have their boats moored up ready for navigating the loch which is huge. The area is quite large with 8 spaces for buses or motorhomes, whoever gets here first I guess, I bet it's heaving in the summer. There are facilities here but you need an Irish Waterways card that you need to buy and then top up to have credit. As it's just one night we have not bothered, we have all the water we need, battery power too and the cassette is empty. So another freebie for us 😄. We stopped at a Lidl on the way to stock up on wine amongst other stuff. It's raining again now so another free van wash, and lunch was pork belly in BBQ sauce together with roast potatoes (not van roasties this time) and another bottle of Chilean wine.

I thought you were doing the Wild Atlantic Way? lol
Your nowhere near it in Roscrea Co.Tipperary
(It's a long way apparently,) to the sweetest girl I know 🤣
No, I never said that, we are just winging it to Omagh in the north. Tipperary was only 107km from where we were and I was specifically looking for a site with EHU because the battery was getting low. So no, it's not a long way, depending on where you are, obviously 😄 and the sweetest girl I know is travelling with me.....

Really? just wow! He was a big influence when I did start playing guitar.
Yes we were good mates and he stayed true right up until his death, on one occasion in the early 2000s he brought me back stage when he supported Bob Dylan in Galway something I'll never forget
I also know Eric Bell very well too and see him regularly he's another really nice guy

Yes Eric's a really sound guy I think he's a fantastic guitarist and as Phil Lynnot himself said Eric was the only one out of all of them including Gary who could play Whiskey in the Jar properly! Lol
You'll see them together on YouTube in a video 'one night in Dublin' tribute to Phil Lynnot
Sorry for the thread drift Barrie I'll shut up now! 🤣

No CaptainPaul , it's all good stuff and either way it's my fault for mentioning Gary in the first place 😀.

Belturbet marina in county Cavan today, very close to the border now, another lovely spot by the waterways and free of charge. No services, not even rubbish bins (it's getting tiresome now) and lots of signs prohibiting loose dogs and threatening a €3.000 fine for letting them shit without cleaning up. Nobody takes any notice, obviously, but they can't put bins for the rest of us. Anyway, I digress, it's a wonderful place, mostly level with boats, swans and ducks all around. It hasn't actually rained today (yet) but no sunshine so will probably be looking for a camping tomorrow to charge the battery. Van lunch was Morrocan style kebabs that we still had from the other day, Irish black and white puddings (excellent), asparagus and van roasties. A Chilean wine once more, which was very good. As I am writing this the sun has come out, let's see how long that lasts .

After lunch, Toñi saw a (flock, gaggle, committee?) of swans in the water and started talking to them. They must have been understanding her as they came in a lot closer. Spanish swans maybe? do swans go on holiday to other countries like we do?

So we are crossing the border tomorrow, are there controls now or is it still just straight through?

Yeah, and Marta the GPS chic will be saying yards instead of metres too 😀
You'll hardly want a campsite between Belturbet and Omagh ?
