The Simpson's Irish Raid.

To assist Barriesimpson whilst he's travelling, here is his destructions from a previous enquiry:

Equipment: one air fryer, one teaspoon, one larger spoon for moving around (not you, rather the potatoes).
Ingredients for 2 people: 2 or 3 large potatoes, one teaspoon of dried garlic, one teaspoon of dried onion (flakes?), a few pinches of Maldon sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, a good squirt of extra virgen olive oil.
Cut up the potatoes into small squares 2-3cm. Toss in olive oil, salt, garlic, onion and black pepper in a large bowl until thoroughly coated.
It is better if you preheat the air fryer for a few minutes, but I don't usually bother to be honest, I just shake the spuds around every 5 minutes. So that's up to you.

Add the potatoes to the air fryer basket and set to 190ºC for 20 minutes. You need to shake them around every now and again so they go crispy. Once done you can keep them in a bowl while you cook some ribs for example, and them throw them back into the basket and give them 3 minutes @ 200ºC to crisp them up.
Great, I wrote it out again before seeing your reply. As you can see, I now cook them at 180° as I find they come out better than at 190°, but you probably need to experiment as not all air fryers are equal.

Do you use your airfryer when not on hookup, I'm trying to work out whether to get one of these, but not sure what sort power they would take out of the battery with 20 minutes use, or if its only something you can use when on hookup. I have 230ah Lithium.

A rough guide would be:-
Wattage on fryer label / system voltage = Ah to be used.
Ah to be used x 0.3 (20 mins) = amps used.
Max system Ah - amps used = Ah remaining after use.

That's only a guid because the fryer doesnt work at full power through the 20 mins of use.

We used to run ours on a 200ah lithium ok. For 1400w you need a 2kw inverter with requisite wiring. Draws about 95a when at full tilt.

Ok, thankyou, think our inverter is 1500, so for me, it would probably best used when on hookup, I'm tempted into getting one though, Barry's in van roasties, always look nice, dry and scrumptious.
I hate all aspects of food cooked, submerged in oil, even more so, in the van.

You can get 1000w fryers that would work ok

Yes, I use it all the time. Today we don't have EHU and arrived with around 98% SOC on the lithium 280ah battery. I cooked some baked potatoes for 55 minutes, then some meat for around 20 minutes, at the end the battery was at 78%, it wont go higher today because it is now raining, but that's fine as tomorrow we are on our way again and it charges some on the journey. I now know that we can be 3 days without EHU and not much solar energy and the battery will only drop to around 35%, which is not a problem for a lithium battery and if the sun does not come out, we go to a site with EHU. Our solar panel is only 235W by the way, if you have more it is less of a problem.

Crikey, i was worrying about it being on for 20 minutes, it sounds doable, might just need to upgrade the size of my Inverter thanks for info

...and maybe an allowance for the inefficiency of the inverter as well.

We are now in Askeaton, Limerick on a municipal motorhome parking right next to the river. Water services but no EHU, however, it is completely free. Empty when we got here, still empty now and the sunshine has gone and the rain has started again. I'm never going to have to wash the van on this trip 😀. Ok, another van just turned up so we are not alone.

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary, albeit we have been partners in crime for 38 years, so I dug out a special bottle of plonk that we had in the wine cellar, and cooked up some bbq boneless pork chops with a baked potato and what was left of the sweet potato puree. Nice.

While I was having a siesta, the river filled up, and it's raining again😀

Ahhh, delightful.

We're coming up to 30 years, and the wife keeps pointing out that you get less time for murder!

Delighted you're having a lovely anniversary!

You'll be heading up into County Clare soon "Up the Banner!" (the locals will love you if you greet them with that) lol
Clare is my ancestral county I still have over 47 relatives at last count still live all over it
If you get a chance make a wee detour inland and take a drive up through The Burren it's a nice drive in very unusual surroundings, it's been used as movie back drops in loads of Sci-fi Moon type movies after there head back down to the cliffs of Moher and your back on the WAW if you like seafood your in a great part of the world for it 🙂

So we needed a launderette and on Park4Night I found this place called Newmarket on Fergus (poor Fergus) which was only 60km away. I also noted that there is a carpark by the church where you can stay in the motorhome, so we went for it. The launderette is at a gas station and is outdoors, but the machines are good and we went ahead with the washing. It was very expensive mind, we spent over €20, but at least the washing is done. Then on to the church carpark, very easy to find at just 1km from the gas station. Then we went to the Hunter's Lodge pub just up the road for lunch. First a Guinness for the chauffer, then breaded cod goujons with chips, salad and tartare sauce with a bottle of Malbec from Argentina. A very nice meal, and the lady was such a friendly person she even recommended a hairdressers for Toñi, and phoned them to get an appointment. So we'll stay another night tomorrow because the appointment is for 12:45, almost beer time - so no more driving for the chauffer. Fortunately, the boss understands.
