The Simpson's Irish Raid.

You might find this useful as well in UK.

I think this was already mentioned on the thread for Ireland.

I'm

Although we haven't been to the UK in our MH for many years there is a scheme called Pubstops or something similar that allows overnighting if you eat or drink in the bar..might be worth looking at..search on Fun, I'm sure you would find something on here..
Just use SFS it has them all in.

Those are your routes to Fishguard, yes? I meant your plans once you're in Ireland. I know people there through family and former work colleagues.
Ah, yes of course, sorry for the misunderstanding. I think we may go clockwise from Rosslare around Ireland to eventually end up in Omagh which is where my son lives. I really don't want to drive much more than 70 miles in a day, so will be looking for stop overs at those distances. But nothing is written in stone as yet.

I suppose many on Fun know the true cost of Motorhoming in the UK better than we do Barrie...but what I can say is it's more expensive that what we've paid over the last 12 nights (21€) in total (1night ACSI site)
Did you open a multi currency bank account before traveling? Of course most of your trip will be in €urozone...but what about being in the UK..have you got that covered...we both have back up Revolut accounts...it's great if going country hopping outside €urozone.✈️🇪🇦😎🚴🚴🍀
Yeah, we bank with BBVA so no problem there.

Leave it with me and Ill find out whatever I can. When's your ferry crossing?

When you see the price of crap food in British pubs you’ll soon can that idea!

Thanks a bunch, haven't got any immediate plans to venture off to the UK... I'll stick with Spain for now..😃

After a bike ride and a short drive to our next Free overnighter, we nipped into a bar on the corner..

1 Ham and Cheese salad sandwich.
2 Pork shoulder and cheese sandwich.
2 half litres of the finest San Miguel on draft.
2 White coffees with chocolate and sponge biscuits.
Total..12€. Including pleasant waitress in pleasant Asturian surroundings.. I'll stick.🇪🇦😄

Yeah, got that, didn’t think for a min you are heading this way, just an observation in response to your post. Enjoy 😊.

Most caravan club sites have a drop and fill option for about £5.
It’s the Camping and Caravaning Club (CCC) not the Caravan Club (now called Caravan and Motorhoming Club - CAMC). There’s only a limited number of sites it applies to though not most of them.

I would imagine it will take us around 5 days to get to Fishguard, however, I am now looking at Pembroke as a departure. The difference in ferry time is 30 minutes but the ferries seem to be 100 pounds cheaper.

When I suggest a pub stop my wife says "I don't want to eat crap pub food" . To be fair there are some very good ones, the problem is finding them.

No keep coming we're getting another heatwave next week (apparently)

Unfortunately, I've no suggestion to make regarding ferry crossings. ☹️

I'll ask around for anything that might help add fun stuff and overnight options for you. 🤔😇

Well the channel tunnel crossing was quite painless and we enjoyed it - fantastic engineering from quite a few years ago now. Nobody seemed interested whether we had booze or cigarettes in the van, nor did they look for blac**es. So altogether an easy crossing. The train left half an hour earlier than advertised so we got to Folkstone earlier. I had forgotten to fill the diesel in France so we did that after getting of the train. 1,39 a litre which I thought was good until I realised that was pounds not euros......

We are now at the Flying Horse pub in Ashford. The food was nice and the landlord lets us stay the night, so all good.

All the glasses were plastic and the plates cardboard. Because it was the local village fete in the green in front of the pub, H&S don't allow them to use proper plates and glasses

The house red was rather nice.

I think we'd bring our own from the moho and use them because some of those plastic cups can have a sharpish uncomfortable edge and be too squashy.

Woking today, on our way around the M25. Ye gods, the traffic on a Sunday! I don't understand how you guys can do this every day

We were going to stay at a spot we found on Park4Night, but when we got there it really was not suitable so we turned around and went to a pub we had seen just a half mile before. The Queens Head, a lovely pub with not a very big carpark but there was room for the van without being in the way of the other customers. So I slipped it in (as one does) and went inside to speak to the Landlord. A very charming young man said the Landlord was not there but could he help. So I asked if we could stay the night if we ate and drank in the pub, well he instantly took a corporate decision and said 'of course you can, welcome to our pub'. He may well be the son of the Landlord, I really don't know, but he assured me he would tell 'the boss' when he arrived so that there would be no surprises. So here we are, we had a wonderful Sunday roast, mine was lamb and Toñi went for the beef. A bottle of Australian wine to accompany it in a nice and friendly atmosphere.
