Burstner 686
Hello - apologies for having more questions...

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove the panel at the side of the winscreen on the Burstner elegance ?
I can't see or find any fixings - is it clips & just pulls off ??

Photo attached circled in red (I hope)

Cheers...

I have to ask.

Why?

Normally just clip in should be able to remove them with trim tools. The clips often break especially on older vans. When you get a new windscreen fitted when you have those trims the windscreen guys usually bring spares with them.

Believe me - I sure don't want to remove them...
There's water getting in to the inside of the corners of the dashboard - so guessing there's a gap somewhere under that panel allowing water in (just another in a long list of bodges we found on this vehicle) & I've still to tackle anything towards the rear....

I don't suppose you know where to get the panels ?

They are only trims for the windscreen.
If water is getting in it's could be a problem with the screen bonding

Thanks Lenny - yes - I'm thinking it could be screen bonding issue - although the trim is covering the sides of the screen - if I can't get the trims off - no way to see if I can do anything about it...
If I could get them off with the outer faces intact - I could maybe do something with them - even take a mould off the originals & make new ones...

Try taking them off on a nice hot day maybe worth waiting a bit until weather is warmer

Ours (Carthago) have a single screw at the bottom, then the panel slides up out of its fixings.

It's always a puzzle to figure out how and which way these sort of things are fitted, without breaking them!

If it's only a dribble of water getting through try a line of Captain Tolly dribbled along the screen edges & it'll seep into the screen/glass rubber surround & dry out making it leakproof

We have an i681. We had a similar problem, also slightly damp at the top of the screen where it joins the side window inside, which was solved by stripping out the sealant along the top of the side windows and replacing it.

Good luck.

When I had the screen replaced on my Elegance the window fitters just run a cheese wire down behind it, fitted screen, cleaned that panel up and stuck it back on with sealer. 👍

Thank all - I have found a leak - in the front corner of the side window - right in the bottom corner - I have tried a mastic bodge - but after the last downpour this afternoon - I have a puddle in the corner - watched it during the storm & you could see the water weeping past the mastic....
So - brings me to the next question - I think the only way I can be sure to plug the gap - is to remove the corner panel and fix the gap - I guess the fibre glass junction in that corner has come apart - so - cheese wire - I've heard of it (I qite like cheese) - but where would I look for such a tool ? Google I guess - unless anyone can point me in the right direction ?

In the meantime I have scraped all the grotty foam backed material off the headlining & elsewhere in the cab - not a pleasant job - quite some time spent lying on my back with a scraper....now replaced headlining with some lining carpet....no more bits of grotty foam dropping out from behind the lining...(yet to refit the curtains & blinds - when I can plug that leak)
