Hate all you smart arse that don't have a problem finding sites/aires or whatever. What a faff tonight for nearly 2 hours trying to get on anything.
It's not there, it's not open, it's a dump out only blah blan.
Stressful, oh no.
So, passed a Lidl, ah maybe. Pulled in, asked, yes you can park for the night..............kin relief.
It's b@@locks.
We are in Pau.
Was supposed to do a bit of sight seeing. Pissing down all day and even now. Floods, overflowing rivers, fields of water water everywhere.
Drive down from Nantes was horrible.
Great holiday

Welcome to France ! We needed the rain badly as the last few winters have been dry and a lot of regions, including ours, were officially in drought.

As someone else has said the week coming should be milder and drier, which is the normal turn-around point for the weather. Pre-Covid we used to do a winter villa rental down on the Costa Tropical aiming to travel back up to the Deux Sevres at the end of the first week of March, just ready for the Spring.

Great holiday
& in northern spain they have snow.I love Pau.I've no idea why? I usually travel straight through so it must be the abysmal condition of the roads that makes even the uk's appear ok. Mind last year on the way back there was a road closure during the day & it took me around the town & brought me out at the roundabout just up the road from the caves & winery .lovely scenery..........when the sun's out:giggler:

If I'm passing at the appropriate time, I like to call in at the Bressuire Grand Prix. Staying beforehand at the aire at La Foret-sur-Sevre. (y)

It"s been "luverly" in Rochdale. Where did say you were going?

I feel your pain. We spent ages trying to find and aire one night. The bloody Sat nav wouldn’t take the coordinates either. Ended up at what we thought was a municipal site….. nope….travellers !! Closest we came to a divorce. Eventually we just headed towards the chateau ( we had previously discounted this because if its tiny size) drove straight in and had a lovely night.

2nd attempt at typing this, lost the lot earlier.
Drove down from Pau to Burgos.
The rain was biblical, floods, overflowing rivers, fields that looked like lakes.
last night in Pau at our 5* stop in Lidles wasn't too bad at all.
We even got a demonstration of doughnuts driving, would have enjoyed it if it had been at 7.30 but at 2.30am i wasn't too chuffed.
To all those making suggestion of where/how/ what i should do re stopping overnight, thank you i really a appreciate it.
We do have all the apps n stuff. last night was just a freak night where every place we went to was not available for one reason or other. It was getting late so last resort as we past a Lidle i said to HRH, staying here, pls go ask them if ok. It was of course.
have also mentioned in the past we don't mind if a stop is free, €1/2/5/10/20/30/50 it's irrelevant.
We do however prefer Electric.
Tonights stop is at Quinta De Cavia with 16amps and €33 on a hard standing so not going to get bogged.
It's kin cold.
Just been into Burgos for a walkabout in the snow, bit quite it beeing freezing and Sunday. Found a fantastic little tapas bar.
Tomorrow we will be on the outskirt's of Porto for 3 nights. Now looking for a site.
Few pics on pic of the day if you interested.

To be honest we saw very little of it. Arrived early enough but with all the messing about trying to find somewhere to stay we drove through it twice and that was our tour of Pau.
So it's still on the list.

If you do venture south, Obidos is well worth a visit. As I remember there are a couple of huge parking areas close to the aqueduct and then everything is within walking distance.
