Just filled up 55ltr no rationing near Montelimar. Have noticed a couple of supermarkets without diesel on the way down though.

Read yesterday that some regions in the south of France are in drought .. it's potentially more than that and looking quite serious:

Seriously it’s not good for anyone or anything when there is a shortage but no doubt it they have had this before so they know the score.

So went to get some of my 20litres of water from the tap by reception, no handle on it, so asked in reception, told we could only use water from the sinks, no chance of using my watering can, luckily have a 1.5litre empty bottle, very slow to get any in the tank.
