Decided this year not to renew CAMC, their pitch prices are extortionate and now they are starting to restrict pitch availability by installing glamping pods.

I can’t be the only one as I got a call this morning from them to persuade me to renew. Unfortunately I didn’t catch the call, just on voicemail, as I’d have liked to explain why while sitting in a free Aire in the south of France. 😀

I requested a refund of my CAMC subscription as my Hymer is going nowhere as I haven't got Licence for the next six months.

The club have lost it big time but those who are elected to protect the members have their noses that far in the trough they don’t care. Regional Chairman’s and above get free sites for the rest of their time so why should they care. Club tried to stop this benefit last year but backed down on the threat of legal action. Lots of reports of half empty sites on Facebook on sites which in the past needed to booked a year in advance.

I wanted a big site this week as most CL's have a lot of mud at the moment. I checked CAMC and CCC not a lot in it on price but the CAMC website is rubbish so I went with CCC. Now I'm on a nice site enjoying the free WiFi. After the change in the weather I will be back to the CL's soon

No idea why they need your date of birth when booking.
Plus can't just enter figures, as afar as I can see you need to keep scrolling down the calendar.
(You know you're old when you can boil the kettle whilst your finger keeps scrolling and you still don't reach your birth year!)

We stayed at Rowntree Park last week at extortionate prices, but it suited what we wanted to do so paid up. £177 for four nights. Thing is that it was full every night, and until they have empty pitches they’ll continue to charge these ridiculous prices. CLs for us too in future, plus some commercial cites which can be better value.

I haven’t renewed either.

I had the phone call yesterday asking why. I told them it was too expensive. She said that, if I want to join again in the future, they will add an extra £10 to the membership fee.

That will encourage me to re-join obviously! 🤔

It is however encouraging me to look at independent sites in areas that I dont normally visit.

I thought it might be nice to try the Bristol docks site since the rally I wàs going to was flooded out. I'm not a member but was interested. It was about £134 for 2 nights! I'm no longer interested!!
Why ever not…..???? ;)

Bristol lez would cost me more than that in my van just to get to and from the campsite

I'm sure there is a shorter way now as that was one of the first annoying glitches, maybe just tap the current year and then you can choose....cant remember exactly but it was in an FAQ on the website once

But there's always the CL's .
Yes, the only reason for hanging in there I believe. However, CMC shouldn’t be able to have their cake & eat it. If we don’t like or can’t afford their high prices and migrate to CLs, why should we have to pay a membership fee to access that? Thankfully most CLs seem to pay lip service to CMC membership requirements and most of the newbies approved are free of that anachronism.

I just made up birth dates, but you have to get as far back to make you an adult. Anyway Ibthink we are about 25 🤣

We are glad to have you instead. 🐥

Their sites have been dead so far this year, makes sense with prices. Independent sites much cheaper
We stopped 3 nights at the firs Belper last week purley because we needed to be in the region, paid £91.80 there were less than 10 occupants on any of the 3 nights.

I understand the latest CAMC wheeze is the introduction of ‘dynamic pricing’… the practice used by commercial organisations to encourage early booking with tiered pricing. So, is that appropriate for a membership club and does it discriminate against tourers?

Hope you told them to go do one 🫣

Just tried to book 3 days over Easter no chance all booked up bar the odd day so it seems that a lot of people have not cancelled their membership after all .

Ouch - that's more than we paid there for three nights last week.

Thank goodness for our Euro6 engine (but I could do without the flaming Ad-Blue farce)

But we are not members, and I suppose it's high season, though it feels more like low season. I've previously thought about joining them because of the CLs, but otherwise put off because of the rules, plus the business of refusing a refund because of illness. Claim on your travel insurance, they said.

I booked 9 nights in the north east for £210

The sites lovely but I'm using it as a base to work from but I have to admit it was cheaper and when they start charging for electricity I just wont bother

Just had an email from the CAMC.... 20% off a night Spring and Summer Sale..... lol.... tried a booking and it takes it back to proper prices again..... too late for us....we've booked CL's and still even cheaper than the club sites... with showers and loo's too
