Oh dear, but to be fair the manager is right ... if they don't check what is being bought then some unscrupulous people will take more than they've paid for, and if she had checked you'd have known that you were 1 short saving you a return trip.

Yes the manager was right; that was why I felt bad about it, But perhaps he should have spoken to her in private.

I probably should have made it clearer in my post above, that of course they gave me the "12th bracket".... under these particular circumstances that was not an issue.

Put the job to tender as a government contract and employ a project manager to head a public enquiry plus a barrister to keep a eye on all things legal
step back for 5 years while it goes though the prosses then cancel job at last minute due to lack of private fianace
Or do a bodge job
