Interesting anglehttp://www.youtube.com/embed/h-8PBx7isoM
Waste of our money -- Darwin.
Anyone who does not use a belt after 40 years of them being a legal requirement is doing us a favour by dying out.
Seriously, if that is used as a paid for advert on TV is that money well spent when hospital wards are closing, and patients are being refused treatment on cost grounds.

Brian, I can't let that go without comment.
As you know I am an air ambulance pilot (not a doctor) but based on what I see on a daily basis I would say a lot of money would be saved 'if the patient had only worn a seat belt'.
....the expense is enormous
I do not think it is all about cost:Sad:
I don't think public money is involved, this is just appearing on you tube.

Good point. I am amazed/horified that you see a lot of injured people not wearing seatbelts which means many times more not wearing belts that are not involved in accidents. How dumb is that.
....Does that advert save more lives than spending the same money on hospital personnel ?

Before the argument is lost. "Not wearing a seat belt, and not ensuring every passenger in your car is wearing a seat belt is stupidity beyong belief. "
Anyone found not wearing a seat belt who is involved in an accident should, even if they are the victim in the accident, be prosecuted.
However the ad whilst a masterpiece of film directing, producing, scripting and acting would, as has already been proved by previous replies, be acclaimed by sensible folk who never drive without wearing a seatbelt. I doubt it would have any effect whatsoever on those careless and irresponsible drivers who either forget or never intend wearing seatblets or the irresponsible parents who drive around with their children unbelted in their vehicles.
As regards older people not wearing seatbelts as mentioned in one reply I have say from personal observation it is the young and young mothers who seem to think their "large" 4 x 4's offer them protection in an accident and therefore they and their occupants don't need to wear seatblets.
Sorry this has turned into a rant - but I have strong feelings about seat belt wearing and especially by children.
