Uprated weight value depends on individual & combined axle weight limits, so 3850kg may not be possible in all instances, individual maximum axle weights should be shown on your vehicle plate.
Mine is 3500kg, with a train of 6500kg, front axle 2100kg and rear axle 2400kg.
Am I correct in thinking that I can uprate to 4500kg without any mods ?
Thanks for that, it's a hypothetical question at the moment any way, as I'm hoping to manage without uprating, but have a feeling that I will have to at some point.I'd be surprised if the uprated GVW could exactly match the combined axle weights as there'd be no margin for error & they'd be on the absolute design limit - if it's possible max' GVW is more likely to be in the region of 4000kg i.m.o - chassis dependent of course - no doubt given all the facts of your vehicle a professional could answer with absolute certainty.

That makes perfect sense and I've just found the thread on ASOF, where a Kingham owner uprated to 4250kg, so I've got an additional 0.75 tonnes to play with if needed.There's probably more involved than just axle weights, I would expect that the braking abilities of the vehicle would need to be taken into account as well, after all brakes that may bring a 3500kg laden vehicle to a safe stop may not be as effective if the vehicle actually does weigh 4000kg / 4250kg laden.

I assume you've got the Maxi heavy chassis with those axle max weights so 4250kg should be possible without any mods at all, to go to 4500kg would probably require rear suspension assistance and/or higher index tyres all round etc.Mine is 3500kg, with a train of 6500kg, front axle 2100kg and rear axle 2400kg.

Yes you can. Ive done it. You need the correctly rated tyres.Mine is 3500kg, with a train of 6500kg, front axle 2100kg and rear axle 2400kg.
