Our van has now passed the 20,000 miles and whilst the tyres appear to be in good order is it worth swapping front to rear corner to corner to gain the benefit of extra tread for the front drive and steering?

Are they on a 2015 mhAs from new - May 2015
After 5 years old, I had mine checked bi annually by the local tyre suppliers and it was me that decided to change them last year and the tyre place said it wasn't necessary but I changed anyway. They were 11 years old. Blow outs can and do happen to newer tyres tooFunsters with a lot more knowledge than me will answer your question, but they will probably need to know the age of the tyres,as 5 to 7 years seems to be the limit.
Mate of mine had a blowout on a tyre that had good tread but was over 10 years old.

Ah, never seen or heard of that. You must check to see if the tyres are marked with a specified 'direction of rotation'. If they are, it will not allow diagonal swapping but you could still swap front-rear on each side.

Ah right. Tbf, never heard of that so I'm schooled again. It is quite common on car tyres but I'm not sure about van tyres. Thought it was better to flag it up though.
is it worth swapping front to rear corner to corner

And are cross ply better when with radials?I'm confused when swapping tyre's would you do the following :
Swap the Front nearside to the Rear nearside ?? or do you change the Front nearside onto the Rear Offside etc ? as in criss cross ?
