When im on leisure battery power and have lounge lights on if I turn on the bathroom light or the outside light on the lounge lights go off..everything works fine on the engine battery. Ive checked leisure voltage and its 14v is there anything I should check? ps I have a solar panel fitted

Your leisure battery will only give a 14v reading if its on charge and that represents the charger voltage. Try measuring it at night with no ehu after its had an hour or so to settle down. You may have a duff battery.

Hi.. what sort of lights ie led ?? has it always done that or is it something that's just started... it does sound odd that all works off the start battery.
I was going to suggest a wiring fault but if it works fine off the start that's unlikely...
Can you get a meter on the light fitting to see what is happening voltage wise at the light fitting when it goes out..?Andy

with a multimeter james

I would get your battery tested first by a battery specialist. As it is six months old then hopefully you will have a warranty.
Reading a voltage on a multimeter unfortunately wont give you the correct information on whether a cell has failed on a battery etc.. So many electrical problems in motorhomes or caravans doing different things all stem from potentially a faulty under performing battery. This would be the first thing to test and then go from there honestly.

If the same circuit works with on battery but not another. It's the other battery that's at fault. May it has been left discharged over winter? It's not difficult to kill a battery by fully discharging. Check the battery.

Also just to add when you have the battery tested make sure it is completely disconnected or an incorrect reading will be given

Before doing any further testing of the leisure battery see if the same thing happens on EHU. EHU will work all the leisure services whether a leisure battery is fitted or not (and whether it's up to scratch or not). If the same problem occurs on EHU then it is not a leisure battery problem.

that's not quite right.. he has also tested it by selecting the power to be drawn off his engine battery and all works fine which generally would assume the leisure battery is to fault. when plugged into mains supply the battery is being supported by the mains charger so that wont diagnose anything..

Thankyou for your replies. I have taken the leisure battery off and it reads 13.5v Ive checked the solar panel output it reads 16.4v into the box and same going out to leisure battery. Its on trickle charge now. re led lights they are in the lounge area but in the bathroom and the outside light are standard bulbs. It quite possible the leisure could have discharged but I did check it regularly and it was connected to the solar. lets see what happens Ill update if I get it cured incase anyone else gets the same problem.thanks

It sounds like a connection problem, some where you have a poor connection which will carry the power for your lounge lights, but not for all the lights. These problems can be hard to find, once I found a part blown fuse causing something similar.
