I agree with what others have said.
If it were me I would do two things.
1. Go to a welding specialist, get them to give the van a good looking over (underneath) and ask them to provide an accurate estimate.
2. Get a qualified motor examiner to give you a full report.
When you have this information, you can formulate a plan, if the vehicle is in otherwise good condition, you can persuade Marquis to pay for the repair (with or without legal assistance)
Or if the report is damning set about rejecting the vehicle and recovering your money.
Obviously the pictures only show a small area, so I can't tell if this is just a small localised area, but it does look pretty shocking. the sort of thing I'd expect to see on a vehicles from the 60's - 70's.
I have recently sold a 2004 A Class Hymer on a Mercedes , and the chassis looked as though it had just come out of the factory. So it's not unreasonable to expect a vehicle to be in far better condition with this.
A final thought if it cost around £500 for a report, I would think that money well spent if you can get your £30000 back.
