any electrical / computer store will sell them but as in another thread i dont know if they'll work on a cheap genny.

    what genny are you using?

I had a computer in-line ( kettle plug ) surge protector on the mains inlet to the electroblock, one night here, on hook up, nasty power cut - off - on - off and bye bye elecroblock.

This is the Schaudt item you want (website is only in German). It is not a simple 'plug it in-line' surge protector like you might have for a computer, but has to be installed inside the van. It is designed specifically to protect the EBL. I believe Peter Hambilton fits them, but I guess any motorhome auto-electrician could do it for you. A call to Udo Lange as advised above might also indicate how to do it yourself.
