I must have been about 7 or 8, late 50's, & my Dad came home in his first car (company vans or bikes before). Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire. I remember being allowed to sit on his lap & steer it down our lane
Sounds familiar, Dad came home in a Wolsey 6:80, ex police car. Cracking motor.!

remember them well also Turf, Craven A, Senior Service, Guards, Weights & Woodbines not forgetting Russian Blacks......fag and a match for a penny (old one) from the local shop - us 10 year olds couldn't afford to buy a pack! Oh yes - they were Cadets, if you remember that brand.

In Haworth there used to be old fashioned sweet shop, think they still sell liquorice root(wood) we got some tiger nuts last year in Whitby too. Spoilt the memory....
