Thank you very much for the instructions. I have seen a multimeter lurking in the garage but have not felt any urge to learn how to use it - until now - perhaps ...
If Nordelettronica is not the most robust, do you know what is? I feel like jettisoning it.

Replacement with something else would be a pain, not to mention expensive. There are a couple of firms that repair them though. But we don't know that it's faulty yet, so I would have a fish about for that multimeter.

I've run a few tests and had a variety of results because of my variety of errors (eg left multimeter on so flattened its battery, left leisure battery isolated when hooked up)

At last, I have a test to offer:

Initial battery was 12.46
Lights were left on for 2 hours and then the reading was 12.08
Then motorhome was left on hook-up for a couple of hours and the reading was 12.87

You need to check the last reading about 1 hour after turning off the charger.

I've redone the readings:-

starting measurement was 13.4
Lights were left on for 2hrs 15 mins.
Then hooked-up for 2 hours.
An hour later the reading was 12.43.
(The vehicle battery is currently isolated).

Was the hook up still connected when you made your reading at 12.43 ? I suspect not. Anyway, to test your batteries you need to know how much of a draw is being placed on the batteries. The correct method, is to know what your battery reads without any hook up or Solar Panel input and at rest for a couple of hours. Then put a known load on (say 10 Amps) and measure the drop over a number of hours, (Say x hours, therefore the drop should be no greater than 50% of your total battery capacity). Then remove the drain and wait and see if the batteries recover without any additional input). If they recover, you have good batteries and if not, there goosed.
