One question, of course, is when did Hobby obtain the data from DVLA? My (used) motorhome was imported earlier this year and registered with DVLA in May and no recall letter received. However, having learnt of the recall I got in touch with Hobby UK and the job has now been done - by National Windscreens. Not, in my view, the sort of job that should be done by a non-specialist company.
My address change was over 2 years ago and DVLA were notified and altered the paperwork promptly.

I have not had a recall letter and have owned the motor home for 3 years, although there were 2 previous owners.

We didn't get a letter either. DVSA have been in touch with Hobby to get it sorted I believe.

Another issue might well be how the motorhome was first registered. My first Hobby (subsequently stolen) was shown on the V5C as a Make: Ford Model: Transit Body type: Motor caravan.
No reference anywhere on the V5C to "Hobby", let alone the Hobby model. I don't know how DVSA/DVLA identify vehicles affected by a safety recall, but unless they base it on the VIN alone there is probably scope for some being missed.
Check on the website mentioned by Barcud in her post http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/hobby-recall.135751/page-4#post-2023400 and if this confirms that your motorhome is affected I would suggest contacting Liz at Hobby UK on 01773 853900 (option 4) and telling her that you understand that your motorhome is affected but you have not received a recall letter. Have your VIN to hand.

We followed this advice and mentioned we were on a forum and that others had had dealings with National Windscreens and very very happy.
I wonder if the ''F" spurred them on!!

Going back to the OP:-

In the case of Hobby, they have issued the recall notice, and in so doing have accepted full responsibility for the remedial work necessary to make their vehicles safe.

They have instructed agents, in many cases National Windscreens, and in others, various distributors and traders, to act on their behalf. If one of those agents has mucked things up, then it is a matter between them and Hobby (the principles) to resolve with their agents, not for the customer to fund the incompetency of the individual agent.

The law is perfectly clear on this. Hobby mucked up, they admitted liability and acted responsibly as far as I can tell. Thus they have passed the legal test of "reasonableness". They appear to be well aware of heir responsibilities,

I started this back in August 2016, when I and my brother in law had a letter direct from Hobby GERMANY.
Had mine checked shortly afterwards at Davan's Hobby Dealers, Weston Super Mare. Ten minute job everything was OK

MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE PAPER WORK STAMPED AND DATED BY THE REPAIRER, just in case!!

Out of interest, what is the base vehicle? If it is a Ford Transit Mk.7, you may need to refer to other threads as well.

Ford Transit FT 350 is what it says in the book, not that I have a clue what that means, please do tell me if there is anything else I need to look into. This is all so complicated.

OK, depending on age of vehicle, it could well be a Ford Transit Mk.7; the basic van looks like this:
http://images.honestjohn.co.uk/imagecache/file/width/530/media/8590409/ford-transit-16.jpg
The headlights are a good indicator.
The Transit Mk.7 is very vulnerable to theft, but this can be addressed provided one is aware of the issue. I believe that the Transit Mk.6 may also be vulnerable, but am not sure whether it is as vulnerable as the Mk.7 Have a look at http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/is-this-possible.137836/#post-2030692 for a brief reference to the issues. Note that if the alarm system operates with the Ford central locking, then picking the cab door lock also deactivates the alarm. Access to the OBD port enables thieves to overcome the OEM immobiliser.

It is also worth going to the Ford Etis website and inputting the VIN (the registration no. does not always yield results) in order to check whether there are any outstanding Field Service Actions.

Thank you for your help. It's a 2009 Van Exclusive L. I will look into that, haven't got the VIN yet at the moment as I am only collecting next Tuesday. Strikeback is already first on the list of things to get sorted early next year.

Just to say we had our Hobby roof light checked out today by Go European and it is booked in next month to be repaired because they have found some movement in it.

The ETIS site will not show the rooflight recall so I would check with Hobby UK or go on the site I mentioned on page 3 or 4 which is in German but if the page I've copied then comes up get in touch with to Hobby UK.

What dealership did you go to daveandsan ? the one in stafford or cannock ? Just wondering as i went to the cannock workshop to ask them about this and i was told they wasnt dealing with it (like its too much trouble for them) was told to check it for any movement and if so to get in touch with Hobby otherwise they were charging £1000 (which i think it was to scare me off) would rather fit it myself given the choice, their workmanship is next to childsplay and i am speaking from experience !

Can I just re-iterate the checking and work needs to be done through HOBBY UK or any work costs may not be covered and they have been using specialist window company National Windscreens rather than motorhome dealers. Phone Liz on 01773 853900 although things may have changed since September but I would still go direct to them.

@Kool Kroozer Used their place at Norton Canes but it looked like it's just a workshop.
Will ring them up tomorrow to check it isn't going to cost me anything, otherwise it won't be going in there. Been no mention of money yet.
Will let you know the outcome.

In early January 2017 Liz was still arranging for National Windscreens to perform the check (and undertake the rectification work if required).

I spoke to Liz on the 5th and she was going to arrange for National Windscreens to contact me to check it. But must admit nothing has happened yet. She was quite clear that I didn't have to pay for it. Maybe give it another week? I was amazed though that she didn't seem to have a database to check which vehicles have been checked and which haven't as I only got the van early December and I just wanted to double check really if it had been seen to. You have to go through Hobby UK if you want them to pay for it.

We went through Hobby UK and National Windscreens did a very professional job and no cost as it was a recall.they did the job on our drive.

It must have been early September when I first contacted them and it was booked in for December to be checked, but I had to cancel due to a funeral. I spoke to someone on the phone to have it booked in. The phone number I managed to find was 01543 496345 which is a Cannock area number.

@Kool Kroozer Spoke with Go European again today and they said that there would be no charge as it was only labour and they would claim that back off Hobby.
The person I spoke to did say, without me prompting him that if it had been cracked there would have been a charge of £1000 which Hobby haven't told the customer. Whether that is a load of bolox I do not know, hope this helps.
Dave.
