Mel, firstly well done you mate getting Chris off to hospital post haste. We are thinking of you both right now. Please take your time in the car back and forwards. Please tell Chris we were asking after her.
Not met you yet, but follow your posts, just wanted to say my cousin had a stroke two years ago and had that injection, he says it was like a miracle, has been fine ever since he got home, in fact he has bought a house in France and has been renovating it for the past two years.
Hope all goes well.

Hi Mel,
As someone who spent several days in intensive care in hospital in St Omer a few years back, I have nothing but praise for the standards and quality of the French healthcare system..
Our best wishes go out to you and Chris and we hope she has a full and speedy recovery.......:thumb:

Thank you for those kind words...and thank you for those wise words, and yes I will as the doctor:thumb:all the best to your wife...and you!!
Having been through this last year I can sympathise with what your going through...its was terrifying for us both....if it hasnt hit you yet, it will... believe me, maybe not this week or the next...but it will at some point - if there is such a thing over there its well worth a talk with the Stroke specialists or counselors for advice, youve a lot to deal with right now!!
everybody reacts differently to these kind of things, some accept it from the start and go through the whole denial, anger etc quite quickly whilst others just pick up and get on with it - or at least appear to for a while, and then reality finally kicks...may take a few weeks or months...
Two things we learnt, may not be applicable to you but may help none the less.
Whatever your wife may think she is capable of when shes up and about again...its unlikely she will be anywhere near as capable as she thinks for a while, this is a massive shock to her system - you may need to be quite forceful and put your foot down more than once...good luck with that!
And secondly - this is a life changing event, accept that and go with the flow. Fight it and try and be how it was just prolongs the inevitable...this hit home for my wife when our GP said "youve cheated death.." thats quite a thing to get your head round at first.
But the good news is it all improves with time...one day at a time :thumb:
Just got back from the Hospital
Good Good news tonight.... Chris is just as normal as ever...and eating solid foods now...still must not get out of bed..that may happen Monday...and the food has got better:thumb:
The second scan she had yesterday, the doctor said that is clear, they will do another scan on Tuesday on the neck.. both sides.. to see if the two tubes that supply the brain are clear or furred up..the main doctor said today to Chris you are one very lucky person...also the hospital you in is the main hospital in France for strokes, clots, brain. and brain traumer so chris was in good hands...thank goodness:thumb:

Hi Mel!
What a dreadful thing you've just been through!! I couldn't post any sooner as I needed the hymer to run to charge my devices . But now we are settled in Lisbonne near the airport and at last I can post. I really hope Chris will get better and better. I rely totally on the french health service and know they did and will go on doing their best for her!! I'll be back home tomorrow so if you need anything to be translated , if I can help in any way with calls, queries, or whatever , I hope you now know that you can rely on me!!Just want to make sure you don't forget it, so please don't hesitate!
Pass on my love to Chris and all my best wishes for a speed recovery!
