Just seen video of a new electric wheel called the "Geoobital Wheel". It really looks the part. If I could, I would put the video on here but I don't know how to. I hope some one will, as I am sure you will all love it.

I can't see the point other than it being self contained. I assume it uses rim drive so that the not-inconsiderable weight of the battery doesn't have to spin otherwise all you have is the extra friction of several unnecessary bearings and the drive wheels. Not to mention the effect of mud & grit on the inside of the rim.

Looks like it makes the front wheel unstable because of the extra weight, your arms will become tired very quickly. Within a year or so they will be build into the frame and the only thing showing will be the charging point. When that happens we will change ours.

Interesting but ilegal in the EU unless registered and insured as a motor vehicle.

What a great bit of lateral thinking and engineering.

I love the idea... thanks for posting.

I swear to the Good Lord Above that if someone invented a light weight pair of shoes that cost €5.25 and enabled the wearer to fly effortlessly and totally safely, over land or water for as long as they liked, folk on here would post stuff like...

"All well and good but the shoe laces are the wrong colour" or,

"You could bump your head going through door ways" or,

"What is wrong with walking? Does me alright".

I've no idea Lenny, I wondered if there was something in print. Would that be on new purchases or retrospective too?

In the UK only applies to new purchases don't about other countries apart from Spain which I think has been discussed enough.:)

    Of course one small problem...

Being front wheel driven it might have trouble on wet grass etc...

Rim drive has been seen before and (IIRC) so has self-contained drive & power source. This is novelty engineering not lateral thinking. There are a number of E bike companies that are genuinely driving the concept forward - this isn't one of them. Problems: the weight is in the wrong place; it has an inefficient friction drive mechanism; friction drive is compromised by dirt and water.
