OK so I'm now veering towards the 690 again.... who has one...pro's and con's please....and is there a massive difference between pre and post updated models.. Oh and will the wife refuse to get on the back of it after one ride...bearing in mind she used to pillion all the time on my TLs... but that was a fair few years ago..

I have the updated version and had the previous version too, I would say there is a very marked improvement engine wise and handling. If you can afford it,get a post '16 model plus with your height as I said before go for an R model.

The Arrow Ti exhaust arrived today from Italy for the SDR, so stuck it on and tried it with and without the baffle. Baffle in wins, the neighbours are pissed off enough with the van clogging up the road.

I cheated. It was damp and grey so I took the bike in the back of my motorhome to the MOT garage, unloaded it, pushed it into the mot bay then pushed it back into my motorhome and away again!

Got my K8 new in Jan 2009, now at 35,000 miles and I still love riding it, although at almost 63 and arthritic, not sure how much longer - hope to get to France again in 2021, maybe Spain too.

The K8 was awesome. I only changed for the warranty as I was instructing.

This new 2018 isn't really any better than that bike of yours.

If any 390 owners are interested in a tail tidy, I bought this one on AliExpress. It’s very well made, today I was adapting it to fit my 1290SDR as that’s what I bought it for.

This chap has sent used motorcycle oil samples off to be analysed in a laboratory to see what crap is in them.

Comfort seat and single seat conversion now.
I do have another pair of stickers for the rear seat cover but not done them yet. Polished it and put her away again.

Interesting indeed but it is a measure of the cleanness of the production process and not the quality of the engines. Nonetheless, probably better to be at the top of the list than the bottom.

I‘d better get it booked in for its 2nd service soon.
