Am I missing something here? Everybody knows the answer including Shiftzz .. so I think there must be an underlying enigma to the thread. :(

On and off for many years.
Clockwise off. I think I remember reading somewhere that the thread runs the other direction to normal so that it make people think before they start to fiddle with it......but maybe I just made that up. Normally with a screw thread it's "righty tighty, lefty loosey"

Normally: righty, tighty. Lefty, loosey.
For a right hand thread.

Thread on the gas outlet is opposite, i.e left hand thread.

That venison was grand. What was the question again. Feeling rather queasy I wonder what was in that brandy sauce.

So it's clockwise for orft.

@Wombles .. now I am confused ... 'righty tighty' means you would be tightening it if you went clockwise .. ok .. you are so it orff... but then thread here says that THIS knob is OPPOSITE TO NORMAL...... Shiftzz it is too early. I resign. ;)

It's a bl**dy tap. All taps turn off clockwise. (Except some silly modern ceramic thingies that don't.) :D

Am I supposed to turn the gas off? I am not very mechanically minded, so which is the knob I have to find?

Sorry to disappoint but ours don't! We put them in and prefer the cold on the left - they've been like that for 23 years though! :D

you'll have to put a warning notice on them in case a blind person scalds their self
