We were passing a bike shop yesterday but it was closed and our eye was taken by a bike in the window.
We returned today and it was open (meung Sur Loire) and picked up some literature on it, had a good look and impressed by a 250 w battery hidden in the stem of the saddle and the different methods of how making it really quite small.
It looks really good and well made and dependant upon the wheel size for travelling far it looks ideal in solving possible options for PVC owners keeping bikes inside the van.
Only my view but worthy of mentioning.

I also thought the price was good at 1800 to 2100 euros (1550 pounds to 1800 pounds today)

I guess the issue is who makes it and where. My understanding is some of the Chinese made electric bikes at the lower end of the price spectrum are difficult to get spares for if something breaks.

I suspect, given the higher price this may be made in Europe and can be repaired.

I find folding bikes without front suspension an uncomfortable ride on any surface not smooth

Very similar to ours, except the motor is in the front wheel.
Sold by JD sports, daughter works for them, I think we paid £600 each.
Quality seems good for the price and it's nice to be able to take the seat/battery post out.
Made in china, I suspect Eovolt are just assembled in France.

I can only state they are a French company and when I looked at them they do not smack of cheap at all.

They are assembled in France but the parts are more than likely from China, India etc.

There's a lot of companies selling bikes with their own brand. But they are designed and built in China and the company just imports containers full of kits. The company just ticks some boxes for spec, assembles it when it arrives, slaps some stickers on and sells it a their own. Hence there are lots of bikes that are very similar...

Of course even the big brands have a lot of their low-mid range bike frames made in China. But at least they are their own designs to their own quality, and are normally exclusively their factories.

Nearly all bikes, both pedal and electric are made in China.. even ones that say British Built or Made .. are just assembled, not built .. Giant has one of the biggest bike factories in the world iand make frames for many other brands.. even some very well known brands such as Trek, Specialised, Cannonade, and many more .. even top end eye candy Italian bands such as Bianchi.. yep made in China .

Back to this bike.. even folded a pair would be too big for a PVC .. there is certainly no space in ours to carry them..

Th difference between a cheap bike , mid range and an expensive one are the components ..

they spec. may say for example Shimano gears.. but Shimano made a range from budget costing a few quid.. to high end costing literally thousands.. anther example, disc brakes for can be cheap discs operated by cable or top quality discs operated hydraulically..

Converted caravanner!
PVC’s with rear beds will have loads of space underneath to accommodate these. Would be interested in something with front suspension and bigger wheels for gravel tracks.

We have had a pair of Bromptons for years on the boat and electrified them with the Swytch front hub drive and they are very handy to take on short trips away in the van without needing a rear carrier. However for longer more serious cycling we have a pair of these https://adfnjoxprq.cloudimg.io/v7/_...ossbar-image1_1024x1024.jpg?force_format=webp

They have been just superb one cross bar and one step through. Big battery and Bosch central hub. Big comfy tyres too.
And not too pricey.....

We’ve had 3 x Swytch kits on Brommies, and without fail, they all, err, ……failed! Always the controller. Swytch were singularly useless and uninterested in support.

We now have Woosh kits. Not as compact, but really well made, powerful, and supported by Andy, who backs his products and his reputation.

We had a pair of Bromptons under the bed in our 5.4m PVC. We've changed to a 6m a class without a garage, but the Bromptons each fit in an outside locker. There aren't many bikes that fold as small.

maybe yours but wouldn't fit under mine..

dimensions folded .. 85 x 73 x 46 cm = 34 x 29 x 18 inches

we have a Truma Water Heater and Diesel heater under our bed

besides.. storage space in any PVC is at a premium,,. even if you shoehorned them in you would have no space left for storage

I have posted many times about Decathlon as a retailer to purchase from, they do a couple of folding electric bikes we have two and they are excellent.
Why Decathlon? No matter where you travel U.K. - EU you will find a Decathlon store containing a service department, therefore,if you have a problem Service and parts along with EU wide warranty are always no more than a few miles away.

Most bikes have common components so can’t see an issue

most frames are made in Taiwan
Frames made in Taiwan are often very good quality. Much as China would like to disagree, Taiwan isn't PR China.

eBikes often have issues because the engineering that integrates the components is poor. Like a folding mechanism that snags the cables, or a cadence sensor that's too exposed to the elements.

Very Very similar to one I bought a couple of years ago from UK supplier
Brilliant company with unbelievable aftersale service and they carry all spares so no problems if you want disc pads or even wheel nuts. Can reccomend them 150% so have a look and see if you can find the combination that suits you.

They look very similar to the Forme Buxton Pro E - we bought a couple of those a year or so back on a very good deal - assembled in Derby but made in China. Forme went bump about three months later. 🙈

Ours are decent quality but heavy - even without batteries - and don't fold small enough to get two in the boot section of a small camper van so one goes on the back seat with a ratchet strap and we store locked outside the van under a cover.

Main issue was very bad tyres - Kenda cheap junk - I had six flats on a canal tow path in two days! Now replaced with decent Schwalbe Big Bens makes a big difference. Also poor quality spokes, I think I've had around eight replaced in the rear wheel - they don't take much hammer. On the upside, power train is smooth and battery life/ range is really very good.

Luckily our local bike techs are fantastic and will continue to service them for us untile they eventually break beyond repair - which they undoubtedly will at some point.

AS Bikes do 20 inch wheels with front suspension. We have a pair and they are great on tracks, never let us down.

I suppose it depends on what you call Chinese, Specialized and Trek both do virtually all of their manufacturing in Taiwan and even the incredibly expensive Reiss and Muller eBikes have their frames made in Taiwan.

Of the really cheap stuff I would be considering whether the shop I bought it from would be willing to repair it when it went wrong and if not who would - then there is the thorny subject of battery safety.
