We have had a pvc of some sort since 2002 but yesterday we bit the bullet and bought our first proper mh.
It's an 06 plate mercedes 316 chassis with the burstner t star 695 conversion.Drove her home last night and even thou the motorways were bad M1 and M25 all seems good.

Van has a Alden satellite dish on the roof but inside there is not a receiver what do i need to make it work,we have a tv and a freeview box in the loft will it work with that or does it have to be a satellite box of some sort any recommendations welcome.

If your free view box works with a dish then it should work - but it will be 240 volts whereas you really need a 12 volt unit for convenience.

Some TVs have the satellite receiver built in - have a look at the Avtex range although they are not the cheapest.

Hi and welcome. We also have a sprinter based MH and love it! It was one of the 'must have' criteria for us when we were searching.

Hi Nobby, welcome to the fun house.

You'll need a satellite receiver - such as a freesat box (the satellite equivalent of a freeview box) although you can use a standard tv with it.

Marlins do 12volt free to air satellite receiver which are usually fairly cheap.

As well as Maplins have a look at Ebay for one - many have a 230v lead with a transformer built to convert it to 12v so you just need to ditch the mains lead and use a 12v one instead!

If its anytghing like tellys a lot now are 15 or 17v transformers so if you go down that route make sure you check its 12v first!!

    thanks all
    judge
Sorry Judge but you never saw my pvc to be a proper motorhome i think you need a shower nearest i got to that was a solar bag drapped over the back door.
My first one was litterally a boarded van with carpet on the wall and a few bits of 2x2 and ply to make a bed.
The last one was the nearest to a proper camper as it had a smev hob/sink ehu and some decent lights ooh and it had windows too.Still just had a porta loo in the back thou so had to shout every time you wanted to open the rear door just in case some one was on the loo lol.I would say they were more day vans.
