Just out of interest, where did you buy the twin reading gauge??? Dave Newell fitted ours, (and a nice job he did do), but messing about with a tyre pressure gauge is a pain.

As per my guide, I bought everything from Marcle Liesure (at the time £417)

Sorry to contradict John that is not correct:Sad:

Yes pretty obvious really as the adjuster is to allow for the load carried in the vehicle and this is dictated by the user. As long as the extremes of adjustment are still capable of preventing dazzle.

I recall you saying that it is wise to relieve a vehicle of as much weight as possible to the benefit of the brake testing and I did this for my last test :thumb:

EDIT as it happens my adjuster was on zero but had I left the ton of crap in the garage then 1,2or3 would have been fine

I know it was a while ago Techno100, but can you remember how long it took to fit?

I could probably do it in a couple I hours but at the time there was four inches of snow around the van and it was freezing so considerably longer
And I was taking pictures :roflmto:

Am I the only one who's a bit confused that these systems *aren't* air suspension but suspension assist devices?

I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with them but I think the sellers (and any anyone discussing them) should be careful to be clear about what type of system they're talking about.

When I first joined this forum I thought folk were talking about full air suspension (with ride height adjustability for levelling) rather that just adding an adjustable air spring. Not the same thing at all. Maybe it's just me...

Yes it's just you lol
The difference is obvious to most people.
These devices are used to increase payload and where leaf springs are worn out it can save the expense of replacing them
They also offer ride height and levelling adjustment.

Not just you.. but having had auto self leveling air suspension on an RV I am not confused.. the similarity is the air bags.. but the pressure is controlled by a feedback link on each suspension unit to a controller keeping the vehicle level, no matter the load..

but you are correct.. it is misleading to talk of air suspension when you mean air assist ..

No one has ever suggested in this thread that this system is automatic.
The difference between 1bar and 7bar is nearly 5 inches at the tow ball on the starspirit and pressure left and right can be set individually.

Edit I would also suggest that the price is a dead giveaway

Son in Law is an experienced mechanic and it took him 2 hours. He did say that it would take me much longer

Update to this. After the initial cheap fitted system, I purchased a double manifold with air gauge fabricated by Watlings and installed it in a locker. Then simply use a 12v £9.99 Aldi air compressor to adjust it. Usually set at 2 bar but am trying it a bit higher right now just to see if there is any difference.
